The Unknown

Image Source:  abstract.desktopnexus.com

The unknown; an inevitable strait
All voyages pass through
There is no one who can escape
This ethereal avenue

We stand upon life’s open deck
And sail the roving sea
Only our Captain can predict
What the Unknown will be

Fear not the waves beneath the calm
Fear not the stormy gale
The Captain holds within His palm
The ocean and the sail

Hi Sasha:) I told you so...

Search Me, O God, and Know My Heart

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

 O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You them me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.

  1. This poem seems to be saying that we control our own destiny and that we are the "captains of our own ships" so to speak. Love it :)

  2. I have never believed that we control...we may think we do:), but this poem is actually for me stating the exact opposite! Thankfully, I do NOT need to rely on my earth-bound understanding because there is One so much greater than I and HE knows it all! God:)

    I always appreciate your thoughts OE...thank-you:)

  3. Looks like I was way off in my interpretation :) but that's what I love about poetry...so many people can read the same poem so many ways. Especially a talented poet such as yourself - your poems are so multi-layered and they make me think!

  4. OE, the awesome thing about poetry, like no other medium is its personal voice to each reader, who they are, where they have come from and where they are going defines what they hear/see! You humble me with your words.

    Thank-you:)
