Settling the Doubt-Duel (With No Doubt About It)

Can you pick figs from thistles?
Matt.7:16

There is no doubt about it; By our fruits we are known
Can we pick figs from thistles; or pluck grapes from a stone
There is no doubt about it; we reap the seed we sow
God is not mocked; and it is He who said that it is so

There is no doubt about it; time is a transient toll
And none can know the hour that shucks body from the soul
There is no doubt about it; the tricks that we employ
If we are apart from the Vine will never yield full joy

There is no doubt about it; we fight an enemy
There is no doubt about it; Someday, the recompense

There is no doubt about it; we prefer kiss to kick
And comfort’s pretty flower to conviction’s thorny prick
There is no doubt about it; we are a broken breed
Dependent on God’s mercy to supply our daily need

There is no doubt about it; waiting is hard to bear
But oh, how oft its anguish authors our most humble prayer
There is no doubt about it; in the fist-a-cuffs of life

There is no doubt about it; the Lord gives and He takes
And we are called to bless His name for He makes no mistakes
For there's no doubt about it; we come with empty hands
And we can carry nothing past this cast of sea-swept sands

There is no doubt about it; the greatest of these, love
No other power can eclipse or ever be enough
There is no doubt about it; if we seek God, we find

There is no doubt about it; no matter what we face
If we believe, will never be beyond God's realm of grace
There is no doubt about it; after life’s race, my friend

Keep Your Eyes On Jesus...

Isn't this true for us too as it was for Peter...
if we keep our eyes on Jesus he will help us 'walk on water'
but if we look around and focus on the dark waves
we will sink in fear!

When grief wreaks havoc in our form
And dreams in shambles lie
Pray that we hear within the storm
“Take courage, it is I”

When hope is tempest-tossed about
Where faith and fear-lords vie
Pray that we hear beyond all doubt
“Take courage, it is I”

When Love draws loved ones out of reach
And leaves us wond’ring why
Pray that we hear a Voice beseech
“Take courage, it is I”

And when we that last strait must brave
Where death’s dark mysteries lie
Pray that we hear across the wave
“Take courage, it is I”

But Jesus immediately said to them:
"Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

Pensive Poemlets...

The line twixt want and need
Defines our love and greed
No matter how we try
This marker does not lie
Its wordless evidence
Is rife with recompense
Then we should pay close heed
To wars of want and need

Always we should be on our guard, lest we lose sight of truth
Lulled into living without giving God a second glance
Forbid that we with apathy or disregard uncouth
Would grind beneath the heel of unbelief the gift He grants

Always we should remember what so swift is left behind
This little life in light of evermore is but a flit
Then pray that each and every day we keep God first in mind
And live for Him as if our very death depends on it

Oh, Unbelief is like a strong and subtle undertow
It draws the fearless bark into deeps dark with deadly foe
Be not deceived; God’s grace and Righteousness is undeterred
Safe is the barge secured upon the anchor of His Word

The pleasures of this world unfurl in colourful appeal
Its lure is pleasing to the eye; it soothes the way we feel
Its attractive veneer can steer us straight into doubt's darts
Unless the word of God is hidden in our heart of hearts

Each breath we take is gifted from the One who does not shift
Steadfast, the vessel fixed on Him will never sink or drift
But unbelief, hides beneath facades as smooth as jello
Beware, lest unaware we are snared in its undertow

This Also Know....Perilous Days

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers,
disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce,
despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
For of this sort are they which creep into houses,
and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2 Tim. 3:1-7

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The LORD is trustworthy in all he promises
and faithful in all he does.
Psalm 145:13

Above prayer from Sermons and Prayers by Peter Marshall

These perilous days are here
Of Ignorance without fear
A world of youth blind to the Truth
And ears that do not hear

These perilous days have come
Of hearts haughty and numb
So cold to God, bold to applaud
 Evil’s appalling sum

These perilous days will pass
But oh, alas, alas
To those who think that they can wink
At death and die as grass

These perilous days are grim
Still, all who trust in Him
Can know for sure, Hope is secure
Though hope seems dark and dim

These perilous days are here
Of doubt, hate, godless fear
Still, God of grace will help us face
These days…He remains near

These perilous, perilous days
Cannot annul the praise
To Holy God from sky, sea, sod
Attuned to mercy’s gaze

Then pray, before the toll
That severs skin and soul
We have believed and thus received
Through  grace, the Victor’s goal

Wishing You A Blessed Easter

He is not here but is risen! Luke 24:6

He is no longer dead
‘Behold, the Lamb of God’ He reigns
Where saints and angels tread

The One Master and Lord
Is not by seal on rock detained
Nor chained by death of sword

‘Stop doubting and believe’
Though sins like scarlet flow
The Son of God poured out His blood
To wash us white as snow

‘Stop doubting and believe’
There is no other Name
To He who bore our blame

'Stop doubting and receive'
The gift He died to give
Will not perish but live’

Without this blessed Hope all else would be futile!
Crown him with Many Crowns!

 John 20:24-29
But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Wishing you a blessed Easter Sunday!
