Arabesque Avalanche

The flowers walk past me while I’m standing still
The moon climbs the stairs to its heavenly hill
The moments that held such mystery and appeal
Fall into the fairway of history’s seal
It seems to happen while I’m standing still

The babies that held me are taller than I
Someday perhaps they will teach me to fly
It happens so quickly, the ebb and the flow
Over, beneath me, holding, letting go
Now my babies are bigger and braver than I

Arabesque oceans of hours and years
Surging in memory over thought’s phantom piers
Am I standing still while Time rushes ahead?
For I see a lifetime unravel its thread
In shimmering laughter and tears

Remember twirling on a rope-swing, spinning, spinning, then stopping while the world continued to tilt and twirl...that's what it feels like sometimes; Life, twirling by while I feel myself in slow-motion, trying to take it all in!

Moments are like bubbles...as we catch them they disappear.

Out of Storm's Reach

Whispered vespers elevate
To an ominous roar
The ocean is a monster
Devouring the shore
Where we strolled
Leisurely
On boardwalk and beach
We tuck tender memories
Out of the storm’s reach

Thoughts and prayers remain with those hard hit! The winds are receding a little here…but we will need to hang onto our hats and hair-dos for a few more days.

Oceans...

There are times we neglect
To feel the moments we are in
But tonight I feel them keenly
In the murmur of the wind
And waves that melt into dusk’s helm
A pink metallic sheet
Reaching to the distant realm
And over my bare feet

I feel a blend of gold and blue
Clutching the remains
Of an afternoon with you
Beneath time’s loosened chains
Fading into the molten deep
Where cloud caresses sea
And all that I have left to keep
Are bits of memory

Tonight, I feel a languid tune
Rushing out to clutch
Life’s brevity; a restless croon
With haunting, tender touch
The endlessness of vaulted skies
The vastness of the sea
Are enormities that are dwarfed tonight
By oceans inside of me…
