Ode To a Wall With a Window

A wall without a window is a wall
But a wall with a window is a view...

Regular visitors are very acquainted with the tree-views below, 😅💚
often captured in photos as day breaks or seasons or weather changes
or shadows fall...

Through windows we witness as it were, time's changing of the guards;
night yielding to morning,

season to season,

but a wall with a window lets in light...

Through windows we watch snowflakes...

or pelting rain

A wall without a window is a wall
But a wall with a window is a view
Through windows we watch seasons rise and fall
Like ebb and flowing tides of hue on hue

A wall without a window is quite plain
But a wall with a window is like art
Framing our loved ones coming down the lane
Framing many-a scene that steals the heart

A wall without a window has no sill
On which to place a friendly flower pot
Or linger at, to watch creation spill
God’s handiwork, or keep an eye on tot

A wall without a window we walk by
Often without a second thought, it seems
But a wall with a window draws the eye
To drink the sky where mercy's mantra streams

A wall without a window is mundane
But a wall with a window lets in light
Through it we watch snowflakes or pelting rain
Or earth disappearing into the night

A wall without a window stays the same
But a wall with a window never does
Each day grants fresh panoramas to frame
Of that which is, and never that which was

A wall without a window we adorn
With furniture and shelves, artwork and books
But a wall with a window full of morn
Awakens praise and second and third looks

A wall without a window we arrange
And rearrange to suit mood, style and thrill
But a wall with a window's constant change
We never need to wonder how to fill

A wall without a window shuts us in
But a wall with a window sets us free
To gaze and trace familiar scenes that win
Affection for four-season pageantry/poetry

All This And Heaven Too

Enjoying a Snowbound Sunday!

Proverbs 3:19-20
The LORD founded the earth by wisdom
and established the heavens by understanding. /
By His knowledge the watery depths were broken open,
and the clouds dripped with dew. (or snow??)

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities,
His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly seen,
being understood from His workmanship,
that men are without excuse.

Colossians 1:16
For in Him all things were created,
things in heaven and on earth,
 visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities.
things were created through Him and for Him.

Psalm 104:24
How many are Your works, O LORD!
In wisdom You have made them all;
the earth is full of Your creatures.

Jeremiah 10:12
The LORD made the earth by His power;
He established the world by His wisdom
and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.

Where every window frames a masterpiece by God unfurled...

And bids us find a cozy seat to marvel at the world...

Where every window frames a masterpiece by God unfurled
And bids us find a cozy seat to marvel at the world
Where the Creator fills the earth with galleries, snow-spun
And awestruck creature thrills in works of art second to none

Where every season brims with boundless beauty to behold
And humble hearts thunder with hymns as God's name is extolled
(Where we are all without excuse; God's qualities unfurled
In evidence unloosed since the creation of the world) Rom.1:18-20

Where to witness mankind's delight must bring God pleasure too
As we approach Faith Turned To Sight, when all will be made new
But, until then He grants a world of unplumbed majesty
Gazillion autographs untwirled for everyone to see

Where He maintains the matrix of four-season ebb and flow
A collage of mosaics swirls blue sky, green grass, white snow
Until it seems each season tries to boast the finest view
While, every heart a poet sighs, All this and Heaven too'

Window-wonder...

When we got our dumping of snow last week
I asked my daughter who lives in the city rather than the countryside
what her street looks like and she sent me a few pictures from her window...
her window has kept her bedroom/slash office
from feeling like a jail-cell during lockdowns!

So let's celebrate windows today!
A few days ago when I visited my husband's mother I admired her geraniums plants,
reminding me of children with eager faces pressed to the window! (no photo though!)
My mother-in-law, frail with age spends each day in her chair by the window
watching the birds and activity of farm-life...
birds are busy but farm-life is rather more relaxed/quiet this time of year.

Last month I took a few pictures of my friend's windows...

Something about the sparseness of this window and surroundings was so enchanting...
an old rocking chair and a lamp on the sill in a room of an apartment
they were about to get ready for her son to move into...

I also enjoy a Facebook group called Out My Window...

Our front Livingroom window...

back Livingroom window...

Laundry-room window...(below)
By the way, let me know if you live close to me
if you would like an aloe-vera plant.
the momma-plants keep having babies!!😅

one of our Kitchen windows...

A window frames the seasons as they slip across the land
The morning ushered in by He who is first in command
Where beauty of the earth and sky rouses ageless delight
To keen and satisfy desire’s deepest appetite

A window is the gateway for sunlight to fill the room
To keep indoors from feeling like a dungeon or a tomb
Where city street or countryside unfurls before our gaze
Where sills invite a flowerpot or freshly picked bouquets

...an altar where we pause to pray or sit to read a bit
A place to admire the way that birds twitter and flit
Where smudge and kiss of children's hands and faces warm the heart
As mother smiles while others might be prone to miss the 'art'

A window makes the poor man rich as thankfulness beholds
The landscape like a counterpane that Break of Day unfolds
As heavens overflow and frameworks that were black before
Are filled with pictures of the world outside our door once more

Where smudge and kiss of children's hands and faces warm the heart
As mother (or gramma or childcare-giver) smiles
while others might be prone to miss the 'art'

(hard to believe that a month ago we had no snow!!)

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house;
and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem,
he kneeled upon his knees three times a day,
and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

I'm adding a few more photos taken a few hours after
I first posted this...captured through the window
while I chatted with my mother on the phone...

Morning at The Window or Windows...

http://vnesdolypoems.wordpress.com/2011/11/30/today-im-antisocihttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifal/

a morning at the windows...
watching as the miraculous dawning
expands across the sky

nudging deflated shadows
back, beneath trees and awnings
I watch a lone bird fly

across the tinted canvas
that only God can claim
the trees, stark pencil-drawings

etched in perfect stillness
isn't it a shame
that we miss these perfect mornings

as we stare at Windows
instead of through them...?

Janet~

Inspired by Violet Nesdoly's poem today.
