On Yesterday's Tomorrow...

This morning, as I made a reference to tomorrow one little girl in my childcare said,
"But today is tomorrow!'
because she was thinking about how yesterday
I told her tomorrow we would do such-and-such again
(like, eat peanut butter and jam sandwiches ...

...and blow more bubbles)

...and laugh!

God’s universal favor grants to all a brand-new day
It sets a beaming backdrop to bud’s stipule applique

Come; yesterday’s tomorrow perches on dawn’s creamy brink
It rises from time’s ashes like a phoenix, molten pink
Mercy’s unfailing promise in generous pardon rolls
From heaven to earth’s gardens, through the berth of hearts and souls

God’s universal favor grants to all a brand-new day
It sets a beaming backdrop to bud’s stipule applique
And refills what was empty when dusk drew death’s silhouette
Where morn runs rife with life and moments none have ransacked yet

Come; yesterday’s tomorrow cannot keep its posture long
Like a bouquet of blossoms, or the last note in a song
It fades; and trades places with what is yesterday today
Till yesterday’s tomorrow turns tomorrow to today

We cannot return to rewind to relive happiness
Today is all we ever have, my dear, no more nor less
To make the most of moments that fall like gossamer rain
A treasure-laden measure that will never pass again

Jesus Christ the same yesterday,
and to day, and for ever.
Heb.13:8

Sometimes I feel like the children chasing bubbles
as I chase hours in a day...
pop! and they disappear!

Sometimes break of new day/today
feels like a chipping sparrow perched on yon eastward fence
singing its heart out!

Enough Is The Stuff That Today Is Made Of...

When confronted with gloomy forecasts for the future,
what should we do?!

We are not made to carry Maybe’s cares
Waiting to undo its When
Enough is the stuff that today is made of
Let’s leave tomorrow till then

Enough is the trouble today seems to find
Without adding extra stress
Let’s concentrate on what can no longer wait
Today’s almost-happiness

We are not made to bear fear's promenade
Down streets our feet cannot reach
But through prayer-shaped hope we'll be able to cope
With what today has to teach

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matt.6:34

Lyrics for this hymn...

Dark and stormy is the desert,
Through which pilgrims make their way;
Yet beyond this vale of sorrows
Lie the fields of endless day.

O, young soldier, are you weary
Of the roughness of the way?
Does your strength begin to fail you,
And your vigor to decay?

Jesus, Jesus, will go with you,
He will lead you to his throne;
He whose thunder shakes creation,
He who bids the planets roll.

'Round him are ten thousand angels,
Ready to obey command;
They'll all be there to hover round you,
Till you reach the heavenly land.

There, on flowery hills of pleasure,
Lie the fields of endless rest,
Love, and joy, and peace forever,
Reign and triumph in your breast.

A Very Present Responsibility

How do these things happen?! we ask as we watch the news and mourn the aftermaths of atrocities rendered one to another. They happen when we cease to love another!

He answered, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind';
and,
 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Luke 10:27

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
John 13:35

So much noise these days, some evil, some intended for good,
but because of the noise some become quiet
and because of the quietness some becomes noisy!
All is in vain, but that which is love!
So Today, let's let Love lead

I’m glad we do not need to see
Tomorrow and what waits to be
I’m glad we do not need to bear
Tomorrow with its weight of care
I’m glad we do not need to know
Tomorrow’s lot of joy or woe
But that, by grace of God we may
Give our best to each Today

Anxiety for morrow’s mile
Drains Today of its sing-and-smile
To fret about the ‘yet’ is vain
Tomorrow, no one can attain
Still, we are never called to be
Sojourners of complacency
But rather, with meek heart to pray
And seek God’s guidance for today

For oh, the weight of it is great
But love makes worth its earth-estate
Therefore, with kind humility
How mindful of Time we should be
Yet never try to carry more
Than what today is granted for
Where Mercy’s present help is laid
In each today the Lord has made

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Tomorrow's Fields...

It is always planting season...
and harvest.

PAD invites us to write a 'things-not-as-it-appears' poem

It is hard to prepare for
What we cannot see
Tomorrow is always
A Mystery

No one can tell us
What its furrow shields
Yet, Today we are planting

Tomorrow's Fields
With its myst'ry will bear
The offspring of
What we planted there

Tomorrow is Today

This is the day the Lord has made;We will rejoice and be glad in it. Ps.118:24

We slept; hours crept, swept swift-slow
Straight-forward slur, soft they
Tiptoe-tumbled; and now, somehow
Tomorrow is today

Yester-today that brimmed, will-wild
No one can ever find
It slumbers where many a child
Left childhood days behind

The font of want and wish and wait
And hope and fear and dread
And faith, frames a gossamer gate
With time’s tomorrow-thread

Still, in its strange, mysterious par
Twixt dusk and dawn’s relay
Time draws through night’s wish-world of stars
From tomorrow, today
