When the blanks that we call ‘tomorrow’
Have been filled in with the past
When its allotment of joy and sorrow
Are nothing but dim shadows cast
When wisdom has offered her virtue
And proven in us who we were
…a student of world-class knowledge
Or a scholar bound for higher shores
…when the temporal treasure we gather
Returns to its birthplace of dust
Because nothing in this world is worthy
To be transported with us
When we exhale our parting
And exit this transient plain
Will we know that we are not dying
As Heaven becomes our gain?

A beautiful post Janet; I love "Will we know that we are not dying
ReplyDeleteAs Heaven becomes our gain?" This reminds me of the book "Heaven is for Real"; which changes the way you think of eternity through the eyes of a child. :)
Blessings!

Denise, thank-you. I was thinking about this verse last night and asking myself if I really, truly can say that...'"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain...having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better" (Philip. 1:21-23)'..its so easy to get caught up in day to day struggles:)
ReplyDeleteI want to read that book! I've heard a few interviews and it really is quite a story!
