Gray Morning or Grace-Morning



God "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us." (Ephesians 3:20).

Morning holds the door wide open
Beckoning to want and need
Still, I linger, meekly groping
For permission to proceed

Wears a shroud of leaden gray
Where the ink of thought’s persuasion
Grapples with yester-dismay

For it knows soon touch will sully
Dawn’s unblemished page of Grace
Enter Fear, a feckless bully
Robbing me of would-be Faith

But then Someone’s Presence cheers me
Where man’s whispers are inept
Frays of fumbled prayer, God hears me
Far beyond thought’s scant precept

Mercy holds the door wide open
Beckoning to want and need
So, I grasp the Hand of Hope and
By His grace, humbly proceed

  2. I am often drawn to the words that most represent my own experience. It is the way of things, isn't it? "Frays of fumbled prayer, God hears" leapt off the page and boxed my ears a bit before curling up before the fire of grace that continually warms my heart. Thank you for that.
