Of Envelopes and Love-letters

Into a big blue envelope
You tuck the remnant day
Hope is the color of dusk-eyes
Half-shutting Time away

We stand and stare out to that place
Where we can never be
Skylines are always far too far
Away from you and me

Farewells tug quiet-hard, the heart
Fumbles with failing spheres
Into dusk’s big blue envelope
The skyline disappears

And like a love-letter from God
Where black seals pink and gold
He places in our heart of hearts
A memory to hold

Dawn,
Noon,
Dusk,

Dawn-noon-dusk
Ah, seamless flight
That turns good-morning
To good-night
