Dig deep within yourself, they say, to find the strength you
need
But I find deep within myself is where dark demons breed
This rack of flesh and blood needs more than lords that bend
and break
And self alone cannot atone for the mistakes I make
Those gods that boast in inmost courts can glibly desecrate
The laws of good intention because I don’t like to wait
For Higher Intervention so dig deep, dig deep, they claim
...when I dig deep I find the crux that makes me blush with
shame
Without true grace, the grace of God oh, what a wretch I am
My inner uttermost a fraud, my greatest boast a sham
Myself, a pit of hopelessness; my brave smile, hell’s
facade
Unless I first confess my sin, then trust the grace of God

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.…Eph.2:8-9

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made
perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about
my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Cor.12:9

A smile without God
Is hell's facade
***
Without the grace of God, I hardly could get out of bed,
For Self is such a pitiful animal of need
But oh, because His grace will be enough when I am weak
I reach and feel the kiss of hope soft, soft upon my cheek

the gift of grace
is wrapped in blood
poured from the
precious Son of God
He, the vile horror
of Death braved
thus, by His grace
we are saved

Grace cannot be earned,
bought or stolen,
But like a gift,
simply accepted
***
What can save us
from hell's fate?
only Jesus'
blood-bought grace
***
No high, low or in-between
Grace washes each sinner clean
***
There is no one less or more
Where Love's grace and mercy pour
Come one, come all to that place
Brothers, sisters, saved by grace
