There is a lot of focus on 'fun' these days...
Hellfire sermons are not fun,
nor are hellfire poems.
Hell is no laughing matter
but as surely as there is a Heaven.,
there is a hell!!!
Sometimes something happens to remind us,
as just as physical check-ups are wise/vital
so too are spiritual checkups!
To the pure, all things are pure,
but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.
In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.
They profess to know God, but by their actions they deny Him.
They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good deed.
1 Cor.6:9
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters
nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men...
Rom.1:24-25
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity
for the degrading of their bodies with one another.
They exchanged the truth about God for a lie,
and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—
who is forever praised.
Amen.
1 John 2:3
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
4He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments,
is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
By this we know that we are in Him.
6He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 Tim.1:8-11
We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.
9We also know that the law is made not for the righteous
but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious,
for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
10for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality,
for slave traders and liars and perjurers—
and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
11that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God,
which he entrusted to me.
Rev.21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers,
the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—
they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
This is the second death.”
There will be hell to pay
For all whose works deny
The God of earth and heaven and
Turn truth into a lie
There will be hell to pay
For all they who approve
The disobedience of they
Who dare to call it love
There will be hell to pay
For lovers of the world
After Time's wink is done away
And judgement is unfurled
There will be hell to pay
God is not mocked; His truth
Will save. remember him today
In the days of your youth
Before your heart turns hard
Before death's dreadful day
When disobedience is judged
There will be hell to pay
Janet Martin
Eccles.12:1
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say,
“I find no pleasure in them"—
Unfortunately it's not just the secular world that focuses on fun. The word "hell" is hardly every mentioned. A long time ago, I heard Fr. James Martin (sorry about the name!) speak, and boy, did he praise having fun. Made my stomach turn. I do believe there will be a comeback of tradition, and hellfire wakeup-call sermons, because the need for that has been growing. We have found our spiritual home in Latin Mass. We are the "dreaded trads" now :) And we have a great priest - God bless him. Would make a great pope!
ReplyDeleteThank-you, thank-you for your understanding and support. I'm an 'old, dreaded trad' too<3 oops, gotta run! kiddos just arrived! let's be faithful in prayer for both the believer and non!!
DeleteOh, my...just learned that Pope Francis sent a handwritten note to "my friend" Fr. James Martin, praising him for his ministry. Prayers for the Pope, and the Catholic church. Thank God for priests, who remain steadfast, the true warriors, defending the faith from the likes of "Fr." Martin.
DeleteDear Sasha, I am so sorry! We surely are living in 'the last days' where it warns that few would be saved if Jesus wouldn't return. I sometimes hardly know how to pray in an age when many are twisting and thus turning from the truth! I am so thankful for words of encouragement like these found in Heb.4:14-16..Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[f] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.. Praying for you, your family, me, my family that we may 'know the truth that sets us free' John 8:32 Love you and thank-you for sharing! May we live to bring glory to God...
Delete1 Peter 4:11
If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
Thank you, Janet. It's nothing surprising unfortunately, I just thought it was interesting that I mentioned Fr. Martin only recently, and today I find out this. We're certainly living through turbulent times, but there is hope. One of the first things we noticed when we joined our new parish was the number of young families, and lots of children - it is a beautiful sight! Thank you for your kind words, and the quotes you shared. Be well and happy. Sending prayers and hugs!
DeleteDoesn't it give you hope when you see young families and children?! We have that treasure in our church too, one that needs to be protected and valued! On the other hand, when leaders let us down we are reminded NO ONE is infallible and pride goes before destruction, no matter what title a person may claim! Thank-you for sharing so I can pray!
