Poetry is for the birds of the air
The flower-filled field
The tree in the forest
The fruit of its yield
The song of the sea
And of honey-bees
The wind as it strums
Willow-harp melodies

The drip of a drop
And the slip of a tear
The half-grin of autumn
Lost to yester-year
Love’s tug-of-heart joys
Life’s laughter-laced noise
Innocence of freckle-
Faced little boys

The moan of the wind
In November-dark night
The whisper of wishes
On silver starlight
The rose-blush of dawn
or dusk's blue-hushed yawn
Now’s blink where past ages
Are ever hinged on

The petal of June
The kettle of tea
These are all verses
Of pure poetry
That is for the bird
And flower-soul stirred
Forever inspiring
The lover of word
