Of Things Phantom...

Tomorrow, tomorrow
Oh, tomorrow
You say
But darling, all I ever get
Is today
I’ve reached into midnight
But it is no use
Tomorrow is merely
A phantom excuse
For as surely as I lunge
At the hem of its frock
It is mist on my tongue
At twelve o’clock
And all that is left
Of its vapor hooray
Is the brand new repeat
Of another today

How true! Reaching seems pointless! Great juggling with the todays.

  3. This is a wonderful piece of poetry: self-contained and deeply layered. Fine thoughts within the original images.

  5. Oh that phantom our heart reaches for only to elude and make us live in the repetition of the same pain another day. Your poem is so moving..it puts into words what I have felt many times over the last year and a half.

  10. I like this one a bit more, also. Feels like a dark walk. Promise as "a phantom excuse" is lovely and "mist on my tongue" as a tinge of hope, as I see it. Very nice! :)
