Travel Instructions... #2

Walk slow…this come and go affair of care-worn wake and sleep surprise
Is hewn where petal-bliss is strewn ‘neath heath of blue cloud-flowered skies

Look deep…into the heart of lilied art; God’s dew-gem diadem
Deserves more than a passive glance and dance on earth’s bedazzled hem

Listen… a christened orchestra conducted imperceptibly
Spills warbler trills and leafy zephyr sighs in perfect harmony

Touch soft…the croft of season that soon gathers in time's ordained due
Pity the passenger that while reaching, misses the present view

Let go…though tears flow for the soul-sweet 'oh' that stole our very breath
Walk slow, look deep, listen, touch soft then let go…such is life to death

Travel Instructions

This forward-journey that we tread
Is affixed betwixt future-past
Into dusk’s urn day’s husk is cast
As on yon arc starred dark is spread

How deftly Unknown to Known melds
Its common unveiling becomes
The latest in past’s greatest sums
Of, what at morn was yet withheld

Daylight will soon attune applause
With what will soon be retrospect
How soft the wisps that intersect
To cement what will be to ‘was’

Beyond this sight-rebellious way
God moves His love’s mysterious will
To draw our gaze up, up until
We fall down on our knees and pray

Life’s hurt that hones hope’s legacy
Tests man’s impetuous desires
Where fragile circumstance requires
Faith in far more than we can see

Dismay and doubt conspire, it seems
To trip us up or keep us down
God floods life’s way to heaven’s crown
With Mercy’s unquenchable streams

This journey through, not to the grave
Commands surrender to gain strength
Where neither height, depth, breadth or length
Can curb God’s love, mighty to save

Then trust in He who scores this sod
With more than mist-anointed mile
Where fear’s uncertainty will rile
All but the heart whose hope is God

To find God's love we first need to find God.
To find God we first need to find His Word.
To find His Word we must look in the Holy Bible

Frames of Mind

This fellow(grandson Brantley)
fills frames of mind with pure contentment...and tender concern;-)

Thought fills our frames of mind with ilk
Of daily grind and day-dream silk
It paints beyond the half-shut eye
Vistas that spawn a drawn-out sigh
Where what we have-had-hope-to-find
Tints that which fills our frames of mind

Tell me; what notions do you choose?
The haberdashery of Muse
Can advertise through lies and schemes
That which jeopardizes hope’s dreams
Where thought, invisible, can blind
Us to the truth in frames of mind

We ought to weigh thought and its worth
Before we let its 'yes' give birth
And spill into full view the art
That we perceived ‘hid in the heart’
Where touch and taste is first designed
By pictures set in frames of mind

My sister Carolyn is a new first time Grandma!
Gary and Carolyn's son and daughter-in-law are proud parents of a baby boy!
Congratulations, little sister, as you embrace this delightful role.

Entrustments or Of Schlipping and Schlepping

New morning hosts hope’s plan-to-do
It stirs to life toil’s strife-and-song
And draws cause-and-effect along
Upon a tide of tried-and-true

Through corridors of more-or-less
Time’s rise-and-shine, come-get-me-stare
Hails beg-and-borrow’s grin-and bear
To sorrow’s care and happiness

Night’s crepuscule of raven tulle
Is pulled aside while pride-and-joy
Dawn’s for-better-or-worse employs
With cup-half-empty-or-half-full

To-be-or-not-to-be, a sea
Of rose and gold lo-and-behold
Where here-and-now is soon cajoled
From what-will-be to history

This nutshell of hello-farewell
Compels both brave and faint-of-heart
Toward the grave; left-right-foot march
While day-of-grace tolls heaven’s bell

…with grants of new-chance; Mercy’s rod
Through schlep of step-by-step's may-must
Teaches this skiff of dust-to-dust
To entrust each what-if to God

Thank-you to the 7:00 a.m. second-miler who picked up the recyling blown from the bins
 by fast-moving gotta-get-to-work traffic...

Let's all put on second-mile shoes today! Why?...
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matt.25:40
