Blue Everywhere

Wikem again:) care to try one? You never know where a prompt will take you. Hop on and see?! Everyone welcome on the wikem-train!

there is no blue pigment in blue eyes. Distant objects appear more blue because of another optical effect called atmospheric perspectivewikipedia

Ether illusion
Whimsical When
Draining an ocean
To fill a pen

Darling of dreamers
Lost lullaby
Summer forever
Cupped in your sigh

Belle of a brave heart
Boast of bygone
Blanket of God-art
Breathtaking yon

Banter of breezes
Decanter drained
Into embraces
Barely contained

Slip of a whisper
Spills to the air
Stirring the silence
Blue everywhere

The Blue of You...

 Another wikem.
Blue:The modern English word blue comes from Middle English bleu or blewe, from the Old French bleu, a word of Germanic origin, related to the Old High German word blao.[2] The clear sky and the deep sea appear blue because of an optical effect known as Rayleigh scattering. When sunlight passes through the atmosphere, the blue wavelengths are scattered more widely by the oxygen and nitrogen molecules, and more blue comes to our eyes. Rayleigh scattering also explains blue eyes; there is no blue pigment in blue eyes. Distant objects appear more blue because of another optical effect called atmospheric perspective. Wikipedia

You stun in sweep of sanguine sky,
And splay in surge of sea
Mirrored like summer in blue eyes
Then caught inside of me

You wander where the fence-line curves
And dips toward the lane
Your bachelor-button vim and verve
Cups canticles of rain

You linger lonely in the dusk
Then light the wick of dawn
You bend the air when breeze is brusque
With dust of days long gone

You drench the waves that wash the graves
Of July-jilted dreams
And drape your denim-tenured gaze
Through yesterday's requiems

You clothe the sprawling afternoon
That always disappears
Into the fabric of your swoon
Like forget-me-not tears

Blue and I

Blue is the colour between violet and green
on the optical spectrum of visible light. Wikipedia

I drove her away from country hills robed in virgin green, dappled with violets beneath an endless sweep of blue
to her concrete vista of highrises, buses, people
and daydreams waiting to come true...

I miss you
With all the colors
In the world
Blue.
Sometimes I wonder
If you
Miss me that way
Too

Letting go
Is hard
But holding on
Is harder
And just between
You and me
Blue
Is my favorite color

You grab your backpack
Wave, I smile
We brave farewell with
'I'll call'
You turn toward the bus-stop
I forgot
You were so
Small

Then, I miss you
Like the first time
I let go
Of you
While a world full of color
blurs
Into one big drop of
Blue

March Maître d’

Lovely sky-flower,
Sweet solar-plume,
You have the power
To set hearts a-bloom!

She is able to beguile
Even misers by Her smile

Weather-forecasters would be hated, I fear
If ever She chose to disappear

(I have heard people rant at the weatherman when the sun has not made an appearance for a while , and he had to remind them that he is merely the messenger and has no power over Her;)

It's Weekly  Wikem-time . Wanna know what that is? See Definition here, then play, won't you?

The Sun is by far the brightest object in the sky; Wikipedia

You wake the world with gold, behold
Another day begins, and we
Seem cheerier somehow, all told
When kissed by heaven’s maître d’

You warm the brook and free its dance
Not with a rough-neck yank and kick
But with caresses you romance
Winter with winsome limerick

…and on the pond where skaters twirled
And whirled while you watched from afar
You reach from some strange outer world
To splash its sash with broken star

…where now the loafing dreamer lies
Reborn beneath your smile as you
Scrawl soft upon earth’s stirring sighs
The sprawling shadow, gray, not blue

…and those of more and middle years
Are suddenly much younger too
As they inhale your elixir
Then dare to dream a dream or two

…beneath you, world-wide super-star
As old as time, still you impress
Each generation, for you are
The maître d’ of happiness

Don't you love it when you think it's going to be a cloudy day and suddenly the sun breaks through in a grand Hallelujah Chorus?!

Beyond Progress...

Last week I didn't get a chance to write a 'progress' wikem

Did you know that progress has not progressed to the point that it can explain itself to wikipedia?:-)
it suggests that it may refer to ' the idea that the world can become increasingly better in terms of science, technology, modernization, liberty, democracy, quality of life, etc  .wikipedia

Progress threatens to mess with the things that matter
But it cannot
Touch the sun on its way to high-noon as shutters
Of day unlock

Progress torments nature but cannot quell
Burgeoning bud
Where Spring will fill bared bowers with flower-shower-
Praises to God

Progress plans, but is powerless to improve
Foundations laid
All it accomplishes cannot be done without
What God first made

...and progress with earthy exclamation cries,
'look what we did!'
While the sun rises and sets, replenishing skies
Above its grid

What God first made, progress cannot better
Or usurp, no
In spite of countless conveniences, it can never
Steal heaven's show

© Janet Martin

I don't know how often I've said, 'I'm glad we cannot mess with the sky'!
