Carpe Diem

This day is young where we embrace
God's grace soft-flung to time and space
And what we do with it will be
Forever part of history

This day is new to you and I
In spite of other days gone by
None ever held this day before
Its lilt soon spilt and sealed to yore

This day is chief, its little reign
Will, leaf by leaf unveil joy, pain,
Grief, laughter, like a flower tree
That blooms then fades on twilight’s lea

This day is It; our best intent
Was meant for This ere it is spent
Thus it behooves each one to pray
To seek God’s hand then seize this day

This is the day the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Ps.118:24

(a verse that reminds us,
no matter how often we hear it,
from Who and Why, this day)

Jesus Is Where It All Begins

For all the trying in the world
For all the sorrow of our sins
We cannot fix it on our own
Jesus is where all hope begins

For all the sacrifice we make
Still, still the devil jeers and grins
Where hunger weighs the heart with aches
Jesus is where all joy begins

How vain the void we try to fill
Ah, how inept the gain of things
Nothing, nothing can satisfy
Jesus is where all love begins

How sweet the comfort of His care
How full the forgiveness of sins
How close He comes to us through prayer
Jesus is where it all begins

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matt.11:28

Some Wonderful Jesus songs

This list could go on and on!

This Is No Game of Bluff

This is no joke
Time’s beck-and-call
That bids us trust in God
For all

This is no hoax
Man’s pray-and-plead
That God will satisfy
Our need

This is no game
Inhale, exhale
Toward that Gate where
Flesh will fail

This is no trick
Of time and space
This is Reality
Of God’s grace

This is no bluff
Of Stuff’s nonsense
This is Choice before
Recompense

This is no con
Though fools applaud
Those who dare turn their
Backs on God

This is no joke
Is man’s salvation for
Eternity

For Poetic Bloomings

Looking Lessons

If I have grown numb in time’s front row seat
To the beauty of hither and yon
If I have grown blind to the fine-flung sheet
That glows with the rose of dawn

...and shimmers with dew where hue of New
Is viewed as a common thing, old
And I do not see (right in front of me)
The free-fall that beckons ‘behold’

If I have grown cold to the gold of new day
And bold to the point of complaint
If somehow, surrounded by Mercy’s hooray
I miss wonder’s thundering paint

If, in my commitment toward what is not
I miss what is, but is growing dim
If I trample underfoot love-notes from God
Because I forget about Him

If I have become somewhat dull and immune
To the marvel of heaven-lent prize
Then, oh Lord, forgive and help me to re-tune
My heart to refocus my eyes

"Janet, Janet", he called in breathless wonder. "Look at this be-e-a-u-u-tiful flower!" and he held up a delicate white teeny-tiny star. Yes beautiful indeed!!

Momentous Moment

Time is a moment-ous occasion

We cannot move time backward
To reform what is Past
Each moment molding artwork
That soon is ever cast

We cannot undo hours
Their discourse set in stone
Like petals fall from flowers
The seed of deed is sown

Past, packed with acts of impulse
Where fact frames fantasy
Is ever at the birthplace
Of what is yet to be

Dawn drinks the dew from Newness
It unfolds buds where trust
Bears care's temporal witness
Ere this day drains to dust

...as Here and Now soft-opens
What soon new blooms estrange
Becoming in a moment
That which no one can change
