Through the Eyes of the Mind

This time of year it is not hard to find beauty for the eyes but, the mind must see it first!
I could be over come with the color of blue as summer soft-slips from Time's,

May we find, as much with our minds as our eyes
The beauty of life’s lovely ‘thank-you surprise’
Lest in the hard fought delights of the day
Time is a teller for trouble’s dismay
But oh, if we look then thought soft-realizes
That life is a vendor of lovely surprises
And we are the spenders of it; may we find
Its lovely surprise with the eyes of the mind

We see through the eyes of our minds…
in love everything is, if not always beautiful, still at the least, bearable.

Happy Monday!

  1. I know you read poetry, Janet. Have you read Pied Beauty by Gerard Manley Hopkins? I've read it so often I've got it memorized. The last line always grabs me and something in your post reminds me of it: "He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: Praise him."

    1. Oh, one of my favorites!! i don't have it memorized but I should.

The first time I read this poem I had no idea who Gerard Manley Hopkins was but I came across the poem in one of my old poetry books It was love at first poem!

Thank-you for stopping by my porch! I hope you were blessed by the visit!
