We walk through rooms
The glory-plumes that fuel wonder
bloom and fade
Soon earth is strewn
with fragments of an afternoon
and love we made
We plow through wars
The shores, when we look back
Don't tell the whole
where ebb and flow
of dawn to dusk's hello-farewell
wash and cajole
We break through walls
...the shawls we cling to fray
while fingers prize
the fond familiar
estranged, exchanged; we blinded by
stars in our eyes
We break through walls
...the shawls we cling to fray
while fingers prize
the fond familiar
estranged, exchanged; we blinded by
stars in our eyes
We wade waist-deep
through fields of flowered grass
soon felled and dead
and peer ahead
with dread and hope toward the slopes
not clambered yet
