She is too weary now
To ponder life’s deeper virtues
The ‘what’ and the ‘how’
The ‘should have’ or ‘want to’
So she slips her arm
Around the little girl
And together,
On the edge
Of a silent world
They sit and listen to the moon

Tonight I asked Victoria to come and sit on the porch with me
And listen to the moon. (she told me she could hear what he said)…
Oh how sweet :) Sometimes it's nice to soak in the moment, as you did tonight with your daughter...
ReplyDeleteA little verse my parents used to say with us... "I see the moon, and the moon sees me... God bless the moon, and God bless me!" I think of it every time I see moonlight through my windows...
Reading this poem was the perfect way to bring my day to a close ~ thank you... and goodnight :)
Megan, it was one of those special times. My son was out there too. He is 13, NOT into such things as 'listening to the moon, he much preferred to bug his sister;), but he did say that it's 'pretty nice outside tonight'...
ReplyDeleteI'll need to remember to pass on that precious little verse.
Thank-you so much.
...oh, and I never told you how much I liked your 'sweet surprise' painting. So lovely!...it's a little like poetry too. Some of those most unexpected inspirations turn out to be favorites!
