Grand Victory

  PAD Challenge day 4 (two-for-Tuesday)

Write a beginning poem. And, of course, when something begins, it often signals something else ending. Soooo, the other prompt is to…
Write an ending poem. Poem about something ending.

I guess we know
To begin again
Means simply to renew
With who we are
Right where we are
The best that we can do

To begin again
Is to remember
Lessons we have learned
Where we are wiser
Than we were
Through knowledge we have earned

An end, my friend
Is the beginning
Of what waits to be
And to begin again
Means winning
A grand victory

Autumnal Madrigal

Now births upon Yon’s beaming stratosphere
The essence of a Presence; Sacred Here
Where earth is smitten with plush quietness
Beneath the rags of summer’s raving tress

Now breaks the captive wake of circumstance
A madrigal of autumnal romance
Nature, the noiseless Victor strips its goal
Where Triumph’s surmount rolls shut like a scroll

Spartan, its overlay of echoes drips
Like Future replayed on foreigner’s lips
Where there is nothing new under the sun
Yet every end is a new Thing begun

Between the forecast and past’s jaded flame
Pursuit and surrender commence, Time’s game
Where the air like a thin blue veil is draped
And tucked across a pale, subdued landscape

Then, just for fun I shuffled some lines:)

Now births upon Yon’s beaming stratosphere
Beneath the rags of summer’s raving tress
The essence of a Presence; Sacred Here
Where earth is smitten with plush quietness

Now breaks the captive wake of circumstance
Where Triumph's surmount rolls shut like a scroll
A madrigal of autumnal romance
Nature, the noiseless Victor strips its goal

Spartan, its overlay of echoes drips
Where there is nothing new under the sun
Like Future replayed on foreigner’s lips
For every end is a new Thing begun

Between the forecast and past’s jaded flame
Where the air like a thin blue veil is draped
Pursuit and surrender commence, Time’s game
Plucked, tucked across a pale subdued landscape

...And Then It Fades Away

I took these pics off the TV screen so they're not that good...I always feel incredibly happy for the winner of a competition and incredibly sympathetic to the disappointment of the 'almost winner'! Congratulations Bubba! and we will see you next year, Jordan. what a day at the MASTERS!

…and then it fades away
The screen of twilight dark and deep
Where both triumph and heart-break sleep
In Past’s Immortal Day

That pinnacle of bliss
Where grit and glory coalesce
Soon falls beneath the burnished tress
Of Bygone’s faded kiss

Life’s bitter loss and tear
As dreams die on hope’s gilded green
Amalgamates upon a screen
Of middle-night and yester-year

A blend of gold and gray;
On one hand joy, the other grief
A moment free-fall from Time’s sheaf
…and then it fades away

In an interview tonight they asked  Ted Scott, Bubba's caddy 'what next?' he replied  'its a little soon to think about that but he knows he's going to bed tonight to sleep and tomorrow morning we begin another day...' Isn't that what we all do? Triumph or disappointment, we go to bed and begin again in the morning!

Our Champions

Dara Howell wins gold! I love watching the Olympics...and hearing the stories that come with the athletes. As I listened to them asking Dara's mother how she felt through it all I realized every parent feels the same emotions as they watch their kids strive, stumble, succeed! Congratulations and all the best to each athlete in Sochi!

Whether it’s the next triple flip, slalom,
Word, step or sum
We are there for them
Cheering them on
Weeping their disappointments,
Laughing with joy
At each new accomplishment
For every girl and boy
Is reaching for a pinnacle,
A goal, a prize
And they are all champions
In their parent's eyes

Because of Love...

Because of Love
We cannot heedless face the hour
Not bear its tireless guilt
But by its grace
We claim the power
Through Love on Calvary spilt

Because of Love
We dare not brash or reckless be
Nor disregard its worth
For by its grace
We are set free
In Love’s divine re-birth

Because of Love
We bear the cross of life with hope
And not with loss
For by His grace
He helps us cope
His Love conquered the cross
