On Taking Fear Captive So We are Not Its Slave...

We demolish arguments and every pretension
that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ ...
2 Cor.10:5

Every so often I need to listen to this song
because there are a LOT of 'what if's/fears that could hound/torment us!

Fear can be a hounding beast
Blinds us to God’s mercy-feast
Binds us to a yoke of dread
Makes hope feel heavy as lead

Keeps us from faith’s flying leap
Shackles us with doubt’s defeat
Cumbers us with load of care
Numbs us to the peace of prayer

Takes us captive lest we know
Faithful Words whereby we go
Makes us slaves, a faithless fraud
Instead of servants to God

Hold the hand that wears Love's Scars
Touch the hem that heals our hearts
When fear's hounding hellions rile
Turn the other cheek, (faith) and smile

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Fear or Trust?

"Wow!" I remarked to Victoria as I saw the 'cold that just won't quit' this morning
and turned the furnace back farther as it rumbled to life in mid-June...
"I don't know what we will do if orchards, fields and gardens fail!
We always count on them to refill empty bins, freezers and jars!"

The garden shivers and struggles to grow...
(but, the seeds are in which is more than some can say)

Those days we pause to contemplate
The ‘what if’ that is not so great
Beyond the scope we commandeer
Then we must choose twixt trust or fear

The future is a fragile fringe
Upon which hope and heartache hinge
Its ‘wait and see’ wafts like star-dust
All we can do is fear or trust

We owe God everything we have
He owes us nothing; for He gave
The best He had to save the lost
Man’s greatest gain His greatest cost

So, though we do not know what waits
Beyond heart-harboured garden gates
The best we can achieve, my dear
Is to let trust out-muster fear

And offer up to He who grants
Far more than favors wrought by chance
(Lest with our fat cheeks stuffed with food
We forget to pray like we should)

…a heart that hungers to embrace
The Author of mercy and grace
And appeal to Love’s gracious ear
That He would help us trust, not fear

 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust;
 let me never be ashamed:
deliver me in thy righteousness.
Psalm 31:1 KJV

But I trust in you, LORD; I say, "You are my God."
Psalm 31:14 NIV

 Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Then You Will Fly

PAD Challenge day 15; For today’s prompt, write a prediction poem.

For the sake of what might be...try!
(that's what I tell myself when fear-demons jeer, sneer and leer)

Fear will paralyze the Poem
Close your eyes and feel the Light
Let the Author of ink-oceans
Fit the Fledgling for the flight

Trust a leap of faith to paper
Bear the dare to share the art
Sometimes the pen is a saber
Carving courage from the heart

Steal the breath of death’s bystander
Seal this tender touch of time
With the tempo of tamed banter
Into mementos of rhyme

Beauty begs for recognition
Brush the bruises from your sigh
Brave the height of inhibition
To know what it is to fly

Because Sometimes The Climb Looks Scary...

No longer a slave to fear; what a way to live!

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27

We attended a fund-raiser dinner on Sat. night for Power To Change

"No more fear, only freedom", testified one student who put his faith in Jesus!
One of many testimonies from students who came to Jesus through students committed to tell others about about the living hope and eternal life we can only find in Jesus
and then also connect them, through Power to Change with fellow-believers.

Uncurl that fist of fear, my dear
Where morning rends the dark
Where Light and love are always near
And never miss its mark
Where hope is more than a barred door
Or trays heaped with star-dust
Where faith believes and then receives
God’s peace, in Whom we trust
Where what we love the most we prove
Through what makes us rejoice
And oft uttered without a word
With fool-proof voice of choice
Uncurl that fist of fear, my dear
The Hand from whence days brim
If we reach up will kindly cup
The faith we lift to Him

Chance to Dance...?

God is a Perfect Dance-partner.
With His arms around us He'll catch us when we fall, every time!

Looks like we'll be dancin' the Salsa for a day or two😏

Wings of wonder
Weight of woe
Which will be the ‘way we go’?
Trust or worry
Faith or fear
It is up to us, my dear
Circumstance
Is but The Chance
To drag our feet,
Or dance
