This poem-shot is taken from a little book of poetry by John Pudney.
Aren't you glad John Pudney pressed some of his heart-pieces to paper for Time's Newcomers?
In this journey of pressing
Heart-pieces to paper
Of baring and sharing
What Mind dares to wager…
In this passage of wishing
And kissing while Wanting
Gapes soulful in fathoms
Twixt touch-and-taste taunting…
In this leap of learning
Where love comforts losses
Where laughter apposes
Longing’s albatrosses..
In this expedition
Of lips and fingertips
Of poring, exploring
What soft-steadily slips…
In this sweep of seasons
Splashing from Time’s jar
What a blessed bunch of novice
Fellow-travelers we are

so, because none of us
has had a trial run,
a prep-course,
a practice session,
a re-turn,
a second-time-around
and because
we are all students
in the school of life
we need each other
's grace
because all
any of us has
are each other
and another day
to try again
...and all by the grace of God!
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit,
but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
do not merely look out for your own personal interests,
but also for the interests of others.
Phil. 2:3-4
