It's another snow-day holiday!
The gale, like a brash busy-body
Strips every twig of its poise
And pushes through nature’s business
With bold-cold, ice-coated noise
It rattles at doors and windows
Slips through each crevice and crease
Insistent on being noticed
Robbing the morning of peace
Brick-mortar shelters shiver
No hillock or hovel spared
From the north-east a white lion
Roars while rabbits skitter, scared
Dawn, in its newborn beauty
Tugs at the tails of her shawl
In vain, beneath brittle mercy
Where wild winter-villains brawl
The gale, gargantuan gargoyle
Perplexes everything
Where earth, for the present moment
Is its puppet on a string

That's what's coming here again today and tonight. Sigh. Fourth storm in 9 days! Too much snow, cold and wind. And the groundhog saw his shadow in NS! lol I hope you have a safe and cozy day, Janet. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteoh wow! you must be feeling snowed-out with so many days of being snowed in;-)
Deleteand oh dear, it never occurred to me that there might be other ground-hogs who DID see their shadows!! It's all a joke here anyhow, because winter is never gone in six weeks after Feb. 2...
At least we can stay cozy. I always think of those with nowhere to call home in weather like this. It makes me utterly thankful and utterly sad at the same time!
Blessings to you too!
