Supposition
I’d like to think that next time would be different
And in the end it wouldn’t be the same
I’d like to think maybe I’d learned my lesson
And I’d find someone new to take the blame
But as I look into the mirror, void of any hint of youth
The answer becomes clearer; cold and bitter, ugly truth
I’d like to think maybe I’d be less stubborn
And time would mellow you a little too
But life is simply history repeated
And in the end there’s really nothing new
I’d like to think that next time I’d be much wiser
But youth has barred the door;a heartless miser
