Once upon a summer's day
The warm glance of July
Drew the breath of June away
Into the clear blue sky
And all that there is left to say
Is good-bye…and good-bye
Until next year my heart must pine
For your sweet touch once more
For there is none as fair as thine
To brush the wooded shore
Than June, a kiss of joy sublime
On summer’s verdant floor
Once upon the bird and bloom
And crooning of a breeze
Amidst the blossom-scented tune
And drone of honey bees
I must bid farewell to June
With quiet agonies
The laughter of its rushing brook
The eagerness of dawn
The verdure of a fresh-clad nook
The emerald of the lawn
Have their lusty sheen forsook
With June, for it is gone
