July Returns
Beneath the waving banner
Of the True North’s glorious flag
With days and minutes marching
Over plain and rocky crag
Amidst the glare of fireworks
And patriotic tune
Once again July returns
Upon the heels of June
Was it not just a dance ago
We sang with joy and pride?
Where do the months and seasons flow?
How can we stem the tide?
And now midst celebrations cheer
A little teardrop burns
For it comes quicker every year
…again, July returns
I see Time etched within the smiles
Of those I dearly love
Passing by in fleeting styles
From windows up above
It does no good to dwell upon
The things for which we yearn
July is here and swiftly gone
Simply to return
Janet~
