A Little Fun with Left and Right

Poetics Aside Prompt: Left Poem/Right Poem

In this left-foot-right-foot journey
We are left with one certainty
The consequences of our action
And whatever that might be
Of wrong or right

***

You left because it was right

***

I write with my left hand
And eat with my right
Thereby to appease
Both appetites

 ***
Left side or right
I do not care
Oh my darling, as long
As I know you are there

***

Some things are better left alone
Right where they are

***

Right after the words left my lips
I wished they hadn’t

***

Oh God, You remain right where you are
Yet it seems you are not there
Is it I then, who has left?

***

The left-overs
Are right under
Your nose

***

Sweetheart, we have this left
In love’s pleasure and pain
The right to keep trying
Again and again

***

Right now
I left…

  1. Yuriy: So much "standing still" in these side-directions like on the road when make detours to go on, stay at and back off - in the middle.

  2. Yuriy: Some more "fun" stuff to ruminate over:

    You were right and left
You left at night and it was right
You left and I was right
Day left and night was right
You are not right when put me left
Right in the left or in the right?
Left and right are right and left when to look from up
Who left is not the who is always right
Are they right if they write from right to left?
Something's left as everything only seems to be right.

  3. :):) These are GREAT! You should submit it on Poetics Aside ...seriously. It's open to anyone. posting just requires a lot of patience.Something is not working properly on their site.

    Thank-you for the entertainment.

  4. Yuriy: Oh, Janet...I'm not the kind of man who participate, alas. I can be easily lost there. You know I don't look through poetry blogs or contests on purpose. If they come then they come. I write what I feel and it doesn't spoil the line or the spirit of the thought. If it's a task I should put a mask : ). I don't like to disguise. That's an addition to your lovely poetry that I understand and see and accept. It's not that others are not good - it's that what I choose to be close to me and my outlooks and world of emotions. But if you like send it instead of me - it's my present. : )

  5. all that is left at the end of everything is who we really are, right?:)

That is why I 'spill' here but I find the challenges and exposure of public sites a fearful and intimidating sharpening tool if I use it right and do not simply 'conform' to expectation. I admire your honesty and that loathsome 'mask' dulls everything, doesn't it?

  6. Yuriy: I still can't grasp it how it happens when the post finds its addressee. It's a mystery though I may guess and suppose...and even make some relevant and certain statements. I talked to the people today about it. It's inexplicable. Therefore I am here with you and there with some other loved by me people. Numbers don't matter. One, two or three. I know exacty there are links and the senses in all of that. I am serious.

  7. Yuriy; If numbers mattered,I would be silent:)...But!

It is poetry!...the power, the passion, the pull and the allure are inexplicable in their satisfaction and beauty, and only true poets understand. thank-you for your sharing your thoughts.

  8. Yuriy: Oh, oh, oh... even now after a few seconds I'posted previus post...what I see here:

"Dream to the stars and beyond, my dear child
Dream to the depths of the sea
Wanting and wishes are what spur you higher
To what God has planned you to be..."

This was your post dated back to Friday, March 16, 2012 with a picture of a boy in a cap. Hmmm...this is the first time I see it. How can it be that I've quite recently posted literally the same in other words and another boy in a cap with the same look?!

  9. ..in poetry abound both mystery and miracle:0 That is WAY cool! There are so many poems here that I honestly forget what has been written. That poem was esp. dear to me back then.

thank-you for sharing and reminding me.

  10. Yuriy: I really need to "digest" what had written before. I want certainties and proves. It's not accidental. See you later.
