Love's Perfected Art

Well worth the while, the smile, the mile
We think we cannot take
Well worth the share of care we bear
When suffered for love’s sake

When suffered for love’s sake, the ache
Of hands and feet and heart
Is but the price where sacrifice
Is love’s perfected art

Their Eyes Deceived Them...

Once
They
Thought
 It was
The
Nails
That
Kept
His blood-bathed body where on a cross His offering poured out perfect
Love that held Him there; once they thought their hate had conquered Love
And
Mercy
Cruc-
ified
But
They
 Could
Not
See
The
Sorrow
Of a
Father
Satisfied

As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities.…

Song of Praise to Our Redeemer

Thou, whose word fills bud with flower
Thou who breathes to Being, dust
Thou of love’s infinite power
In Thy Holy Name we trust

For the way to death is certain
When this day of breath is past
Still, the grace that rent The Curtain
Is the grace that holds us fast

Sorrow, bitter for a season
Is neither victor nor chief
Thou, who grants mankind Hope’s Reason
Fathers joy in spite of grief

Thou hast suffered all we suffer
Thou who bore Thy cross, oh Lord
Obedient servant-Lover
Conquered Death through life outpoured

Praise the Holy Name of Jesus
Praise the Lamb of Calvary
Praise Him for the blood that frees us
And verifies Victory

Praise Him for the gift He gave us
Praise Jesus with every breath
Praise Him for the love that saves us
From the curse of sin and death

Praise Him, for there is none greater
Praise Him, Saviour of the soul
Praise Him, mankind’s Mediator
For the love that makes us whole

Glory, hallelujah, Jesus
Glory, hallelujah, Lord
Sing to He whose triumph frees us
Through the promise of His Word

Once and For All

PAD Challenge 15:For today’s prompt, write a “one time” poem.

And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
John 17:5

What horror bid Thee languish
Thou, Lamb of Calvary
That drew death’s goal from anguish
To glorious victory

What grace flowed from Thy sorrow
Perfection crucified
Once and for all; my Lord, oh
To break sin’s curse, You died

What splendor in submission
What tender agony
What mercy-bowed contrition
Didst plea for you and me

But rock could not contain Him
Nor locks restrain Hope’s Bloom
As ages still proclaim Him
The Victor of the Tomb

Once and for all, my Lord, oh
Man’s awful debt You bore
To save our souls from hell, oh
In death’s Forevermore

Once and for all; ah, Jesus
You took on form of man
Thou, who knew You would free us
Before the world began

Things Are Not Always What they Seem...

PAD Challenge day 14: For today’s prompt, pick a popular saying and make that the title of your poem; then, write your poem.
The harder the battle the sweeter the victory-Roland

Things are not always what they seem;the first appearance deceives many; the intelligence of a few perceives what has been carefully hidden . Phaedrus

Things are not always what they seem
Dreams, darling with delight
After their thrill of whim is filled
Cannot quell appetite

Free will, feels freer than it is
Never free of its charge
Where we adore or just ignore
The love of God at large

The voice of choice often seems small
And quite irrelevant
Yet, it begets the seed that sets
In motion, what we plant

Things are not always what they seem
Life’s trial and its hurt
Produces in its end, my friend
A patience-perfect work

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds,
Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete,
not lacking anything.…
