New Again...

I found this poem in a book yesterday and it made me want to start where I stand.
How about you?

Somehow, while boughs were silver-brushed
And vespers hushed with stars
While the moon was a bark un-rushed
On midnight’s far-off bars

Somehow, before the lark awoke
And stoked the dark with praise
Or morning like a victor broke
Night’s yoke with Mercy's gaze

...while noise was shy and silence bold
And Time, a silk-wheeled train
Somehow twixt dusk and dawn the old
Became new once again

Here it is, all shiny and new again; Today.

The Glorious Fact of the Matter

Ps.23:1-3

Through come and go
Of high and low
And joy and woe,
Fail, try,
Through laugh and weep,
Through crawl or leap,
Awake, asleep
Smile, sigh,
Through dark or light,
Through stay or flight
Whatever life
Betides
He will not move
And He will prove
His faithful love
Abides

If we think He did not or has not proven it yet, maybe it is because we have not seen Him, or Heaven.
Yesterday this verse struck me anew as I read it:
However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him…1 Cor. 2:9

No human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him!'
 Just think about that!
It makes one re-evaluate who/what we love, no?
...and not to try so hard to know how Heaven will be because 'human mind has not conceived'!
but to focus on how we will be ready when the hour comes to see Jesus face to face.

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

Vesper

I like a land where dusk rolls free
Across unhindered hills
Where vesper-flushed tranquility
The heart’s deep hunger fills

I like a clime where green is chief
Before gold flows waist high
Where time is marked by turn of leaf
And woodland’s fading sigh

I like to lounge on banks of grass
And list to zephyrs jive
The river like a looking glass
Where swallows dip and dive

I like a land, glorious and grand
Because God made it so
And all we truly understand
Is, tis by grace we go

Tomorrow is another day
(If Time its grace imparts)
To send the travelers on their way
With hope-refurbished hearts

A Psalm of Joy

Thank-you Benjy, for sharing a poem I wrote entitled Miracle on your blog today

Oh Lord, you broke the dark. Your light
Before all things, obeyed
Then, moon and stars to rule by night
And sun to rule by day

Oh Lord, you filled Void with your Word
Creating bird and flow’r

You shake the firmaments with awe
You drape the air where dusk and dawn
Are Someone to behold

Summer, winter, springtime and fall
Where earth is like a banquet hall
And man, the guest in it

Oh Lord, there is none greater, no
You stoke the seed from whence fruits flow
To succor Need’s wellspring

You spoke and broke Vast Nothingness
Drew miracles from dirt
To mankind’s mortal hurt

Oh Lord, you took pity on us
Cursed with sin’s guilt and shame
And freely gave Your Son, Jesus
Salvation’s sacred Name

Oh Lord, You broke the dark. Your Light
Before all things, obeyed
Love paid sin’s debt with blood whereby
All sinners can be saved

More Or Less...

The older I get sometimes it seems
That what I thought I knew
Plays tricks on me and I am quite
Uncertain what to do

So when somebody asks me, 'if-
What-how-why, tell me, oh'
I find it safest to reply
I really just don’t know

..because the more birthdays I get
The less the years have cleared
And all my answers patented
In youth have disappeared

For what I thought was not, is so
And what I thought so, not
And all the rest I must confess
It seems I've quite forgot
