Let's Talk About Love # 12 Over-looked and Under-rated

The intimacy of being
Completely understood
Is far too often overlooked
And under-rated

Hold me darling,
Not in your arms
But in the gentle smile
Of understanding

The warmth of your gaze
Coupled with two words
‘I know’ are ecstasy unequaled
And contentment unrivaled

Then I am ready to hear
Those other words
I love you, I want you
I need you

Janet~
I'm looking for a certain poem and finding some I've long-forgotten...

Let's Talk About Love #11

Love is a dialogue
Not simply of lips
But of heart-whispered wishes
  And fingertips

We live our moments
With immutable choice
For the heart moves the hand
Thus, the hand is our voice

Can we teach the heart
The law of the head
Or are words mere distraction
To what really is said?

Come closer, my darling
I long to convey
Without word-diversion
What I need to say

After a discussion with my son on how the hand often speaks more loudly than the mouth because we are known by what we do and not only what we say, I decided to put a romantic twist on that train of thought;) 'tis the season!

Let's Talk About Love # 10 A 'heart' re-run

I cannot get         enough of you
The shape   of your words
Or your silence teases,
Pleases me, and oh my
darling, while others fuss
over love’s inadequacies
I smile because
I just can’t get
enough
Of
Us

Let's Talk About Love # 9

There is no pride in love
No selfish vanity
To find its pure fulfillment
We must seek humility
There is no fear in love
And as it freely pours
It never empties but instead
Increases more and more
There is no guilt in love
But its vile tempter, lust
Will sully faultless purity
And rob the heart of trust
There is no greed in love
Nor self-sought indulgence
Yet Love succors our deepest need
In wondrous recompense
There is no loss in love
Its call, our greatest debt
The more we give to fellowman
The more and more we get

Ah, Winter Eventide

Ah, winter eventide
How soft and blue you throw
Across the countryside
Your cloak upon the snow
And where the afternoon
Laughed from a sun-swept sky
You spill in solemn swoon
A sleepy lullaby

How tenderly you fold
This day into its cot
Taking noon, bold and gold
And turning it to thought
As skylines disappear
Beneath your navy shawl
You draw across this sphere
A moody madrigal

The scuffs upon your cuff
Are brushed into the air
You sigh, ‘it is enough’
And kiss our weary care
Then like a matron kind
You gather to your breast
That which we leave behind
And tuck this day to rest

I was going to tell the guy I baby-sit for that it’s so nice for him to be able to pick up his boys while it is still daylight, but somewhere between supper and after supper it grew dark without my noticing it…6:00 being quite light and shortly after 6:30 it is DARK!

Let's Talk About Love # 8 Perfect

I tried to find another word
To tell you how I feel
One not so plain and often heard
Yet genuine and real
I tried to find a word to tell
These fathoms in my soul
Vocabulary that could spell
In one word, living’s Whole

…but when I weighed your soft-half grin
And heart-parts where you let me in
The kind contentment in your sigh
Wonder that dwarfs time’s little sky
The second look and second mile
Forgiveness uttered in a smile
Of things ancient yet ever new
Life’s proof of what is good and true

…then,
When I tried to compensate
With lesser word something so great
I failed for one cannot improve
On these four letters which spell: Love

Let's Talk about Love #7 A Prayer...

Dear Lord, sometimes I wonder
As you see me on my knees
Do you ever tire of hearing
My repeated worn-out pleas?

Dear Lord, sometimes I wonder
When I think of what we owe
How is it that a Father
Could still love each sinner so?

Dear Lord, sometimes I wonder
At your Love so full and free
Yet it seems that far too often
I rely on what I see

Dear Lord, sometimes I wonder
Then within Love’s trust I seek
To pour upon your shoulder
Repetition; I am weak

You know...those things you've prayed for, for years yet cannot bear the thought of not praying for it?...
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Thursday Thoughts on Love

Accusation, keeping score
Fuels a sad and endless war
Forgiveness and faith will prove
The enduring fort of love

***

Give and take
Take and give
Live and love
Love and live!

***

I blush at the thought
Of writing
A Love Poem
Because it is hard
And I wish it weren’t
So tattered
And splattered
…our Postcard

***

Red is the color of love, my love
Red hearts, red wine, red rose
Red hands and feet nailed to a tree
Where red redemption flows

***

Wasted; those wishes
Shaped but never shared
Thought-script is futile
If left un-bared

***

Bear with compassion
Love’s high and its low
For it is simply
By God’s grace we go
***

Double-edged voice
Love’s experience
Offers both ammunition
And benevolence

***

What is this thing we can never give too much of
or ever get enough?
Ah yes, it can only be one thing;
Love

***

 It is nothing to part
With the flesh-desire
Of things
Clutched in our grasp
It is everything when the heart
Is on holy-fire
And sings
A love song fingers cannot clasp

***
Everything is nothing
And never enough
If we choose life’s pilferage
Over Love

***

Love bears all things
Believes all things
It hopes all things
Endures
Ah, to walk side by side
In love
Our happiness
Secures

***

We ought to love
As Christ loved us
In all things
Love is Chief

We cannot love
As Christ loved us
Yet live in
Unbelief

 ***

Love is a life-long journey we climb
Borne not in ages
But one
Step
At
A
Time

***

We choose red wine, sweet chocolate, a rose
Candle-light dinner, soft music, nice clothes
We choose things of comfort, delightful and new
In our best efforts to say, ‘I love you’

He chose a crown made of thorns, not the rose
Some nails and a cross are the symbols He chose
Clad in His blood, pierced, suffering, He cried
“Father, forgive them,” then... He died

***

There is a part of me
That moves to thought-command
Its practical decree
Flows from my head to hand

But oh, the vexing bliss
Of passion's darling part
I can’t control the kiss
That re-directs my heart

***

Learn this lesson
And learn it well
To love is Heaven
To lust is hell

***

Lust takes
Love gives
Lust lies
Love is truth
Lust desires
Love serves
Lust wounds
Love heals
Lust craves
Love fulfills
Lust preys
Love prays
Lust flatters
Love praises
Lust deceives
Love abides
Lust demands
Love is patient
Lust shackles
Love frees
Lust is weakness
Love is strength
Lust dies
Love lives!

***

Sometimes love is spoken most deeply
Not by what we say
but what we could say
...and didn't

***
Sigh...
I think it will take a lifetime
Oh, how can it be?
Love, though old as Adam
Is still a Mystery

Have a Love-ly Day!
