No Greater Love

For all the loves of life
That tongue may dare to boast
The love of God exceeds the realm
Of thought’s meek uttermost

The hurts of life can press us
Prostrate on the ground
The Love of God will find us there
No greater love is found

He did not come to earth
To taste its finer side
A manger met Him at His birth
On lifted cross, He died

Thus, in life’s suffering
His faithful love attends
A kind and patient comforter
A close and constant Friend

In living’s high and low
Here on time’s season-sod
Hope lends its everlasting glow
Through this; the love of God

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13, NKJV

My prayer is that we all may know His love.

~Happy Valentine's Day~

Who Could Ask For Anything More?

As coffee completes a morning
Or leaf, a tree
So you, my darling
Complete me

Love’s song is written
With everyday things
Thus, the dreamer dances
And the pauper sings

For who can count
The ways that we love?
Land, sea and sky
Are not vast enough

Wrapped up in laughter
Or tears that fall
Love is the wonder
That stuns us all

‘To love and be loved’
Ah, this is life’s core
Tell me, who could ask
For anything more?

~Happy Valentine's Day to all~

How about a little Elvis and a slow dance?

He wakes me up each morning
Much to my delight
He knows exactly what I need
And how to do it right
I’m a little sleepy
Until I feel his touch
His warmth flows into, through me
I love him oh, so much
Maxwell, you’re a darling
I keep you in a can
And see you every morning
To kiss your face of tan
Your deep and robust passion
Stirs me to the core
And I know that I cannot
Live without you anymore
You don’t have to worry
No one can take your place
I sip you and inhale you
With a smile upon my face
Maxwell, you’re a darling
I love your coat of blue
And in the early morning
No one else will do
Maxwell, you’re a keeper
Perfection in a can
I wonder what would happen
IF YOU WERE A MAN

The Full Telling of It

One of my all-time favorite love songs ever:) by one of my favorite artists ever.

When it comes to the telling of love, my love
The spelling of it never seems quite enough

No words seems invented to full satisfy
The rush of the heart spilling sweet in soft sigh

...or the 'happy-with-nothing-but-you-next-to-me'
the 'let's-stop-the clocks-and-slow-dance-on-time's-sea'

And where is that word that can capture the whole
Of this; fulfilled fingertips, lips, heart and soul?

When it comes to telling what I feel full-true
Ah darling, there is nothing but this; 'I love you'

Romance of Redemption...a Re-run about the Greatest Love of All

He etches artwork of tree-frame on skyline
Ethereal canvas of ruby and gold
Where one more day with each half-breath is fading
Into Past’s vast and invisible hold
He spoke to Being crag, coppice and canyon
Fathom of flowers were formed by His thought
Alpha-Omega yet in every moment
Nothing is born but that by His Hand wrought
And though nature awes the mind-reach of a man
‘tis merely the back-drop to Love’s Master Plan

He left His throne in the glories of Heaven
Love drove this Shepherd to earth’s stony sweep
Not to still reeds tossed in wind-worn abandon
But to draw to Him each wandering sheep
Love’s tender wooing sought souls stiff and stubborn
Here, where the brush-strokes of nature-song fell
Power and passion loved hearts fully human
Knowing the cost of His courtship full-well
Not of red roses nor wine in His cup
But thorns on His head and a cross lifted up

Pardon’s red river still rolls through the ages
Love, culminated on Calvary’s tree
Writes His love story on century-pages
‘Darling Deliverer sets sin-captives free’
Lover of mortal, Redeemer, Good Shepherd
Salvation’s romance of Savior to soul
Draws us from gutters of guilt to Love’s shoulder
If not for Love then where can we be Whole?
God’s grace expands Time’s ephemeral slate
Love cannot bear to fetter Mercy’s Gate

A Just for Fun Re-run...Pennsylvania-Dutch Love Poem

Translation…

What is this thing that scatters me so
And makes me so light-headed
My thoughts are scrambled; not on my work
And often I am clumsy and crazy
When you closely walk by me
Or sleep tightly beside me
I ask for nothing more from you
Just that you will not leave me
Until God in Heaven calls
And He comes for you or me
Money cannot buy what love gives
And we are not poor together
Stuff is just stuff; it will not listen
And it clatters like old tin cans
Love keeps us glad and free
God keeps us close to Him
We are better off than rich folk
If we do not forget
To give God thanks
And always just love each other

Love...a re-run cause sometimes I forget:)

There is no pride in love
No selfish vanity
To find its pure fulfillment
We must seek humility

There is no fear in love
And as it freely pours
It never empties but instead
Increases more and more

There is no guilt in love
But its vile tempter, lust
Will sully precious purity
And rob the heart of trust

There is no greed in love
Nor self-sought indulgence
Yet Love succors our deepest need
In wondrous recompense

There is no loss in love
Its call, our greatest debt
The more we give to fellowman
The more and more we get
