When Mortal Woe The Will of Courage Tries...

When mortal woe the will of courage tries
And forces us to think of more than This
When we look at our hands and realize
How small and dependent their Doing is
When time, as its slips by beneath the sun
(The way that it has always done, and yet)
We start to see, in seasons as they run
Like rivers full of leaf, to summer’s set
… and Something we cannot attain, but strain
Toward, the way hungering man will do
Because we want assurance to sustain
Us in life’s compromises we pass through
When grope-grope-groping, the heart longs for song
But cannot find the notes to fit the tongue
When hope-hope-hoping we try to be strong
But hope needs more than hope to lean upon
When mortal woe the will of courage tries
And forces us to think of more than This
Oh, pray that we may come to realize
Hope’s absolute assurance of God IS

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Pet.1:3

Love the third-fourth line in this song...
'what more can he say than to you He hath said?
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled!'

Our God Is Not Like 'other gods'

Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Ex.20:3

Our God is not like ‘other gods’
Fashioned of stone, wood, wind,
And unlike any ‘others gods’
Our God is good and kind

Our God is not like ‘other gods’
Imagined through man’s lies
And unlike any ‘other gods’
Our God arranges skies

Our God is not like ‘other gods’
Where heathens place their trust
And unlike any ‘other gods’
Our God breathes life to dust

Our God is not like ‘other gods’
Of subjective design
Our God is Alpha, Omega
 And Providence divine

Our God is not like ‘other gods’
He loves us and He cares
And unlike any ‘other gods’
He hears and answers prayers

I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,
Isa.. 45:5

Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.
Isa.65:24

1 Kings 18:21-38
21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. 22 Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. 23 Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it. 24 Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.”
So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”
25 Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.
26 So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.
27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” 28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. 29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down. 31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”[b] 32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. 33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.” 34 Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. 35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.
36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”

38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

If We Dare to Deny Him

PAD Challenge day 8: write a dare poem

We will never be all we were born to be
If we dare to deny the One who made us,
Don’t you see?

The voices in our head will spout cheap acronym
If we dare to deny the thread that draws us
Back to Him

Knowledge’s boast is base without belief in He
Who, somewhere in this frame of flesh placed
Immortality

…and we will never reach our full potential
If we dare to boldly deny the Giver
Of it all

Accomplishment is vain and touted Truth a fraud
If we dare to deny within its every essence
God

Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

Where Is He? He is Here

I would choose this shade of morning but God chose the color below so we praise Him for gray today...

Where is He that evokes
Within night-deep, the dawn?
He strums the elements with rhapsodies
Of rain and sun
His betrothal of hope
Saves us from vile despair
Where demons flaunt death-desperate doubt
His whisper stills the air

Where is He that persuades
The bloom from soldered bark
Or hearts to trust Him and believe
That once were cold and dark
He succors day by day
Though dread and deceit taunt
Still He appeals on our behalf
To triumph our want

Where is He that implores
From Banquet Halls in wait
While grace in boundless Fathom pours
From Mercy’s unbarred Gate
Ah, we have seen His star
…glimpsed grandeur in belief
The earth His fullness testifies
In every new-born leaf

Where is this King of kings
That lives in hearts of men
Yet cups Time and its universe
Within Hope’s nail-scarred hands
Wonder and hunger vie
We marvel and beseech
He who transcends sod, sea and sky
Remains within our reach

"Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him." Matthew 2:2

Yes God is where He has always been; everywhere. How can we find Him? Ask and it will be given you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you. Matt.7:7

So It Will Be

 Another awesome sky morning...

Write a commercialism poem...

He does not need commercials
To draw our eyes to Him
His wonder fills the morning sky
And spills from every limb
When He speaks none can silence
Beginning and the End
I AM declares and so IT IS
Forevermore, Amen

The LORD Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen. Isa. 14:24

Our God IS Sovereign

This is our God
Sovereign and sure
And none exceeds His power
By His promise
We will endure
In life’s most trying hour

This is our God
Immortal King
Father and Son and Spirit
Sustain-er in our
Suffering
He kindly helps us bear it

This is our God
Lion and Lamb
Offering and Vindicator
Man of sorrows
The I AM
Heaven and earth’s Creator

This is our God
He parts the seas
No army over-throws Him
Deliverer
Of mysteries
And none can fully know Him

This is our God
Faithful, the One
This life is but a vapor
Before we bow
Before His throne
To dwell with Him forever

Yesterday afternoon we saw face to face the couple we prayed for .They shared the details of their flight from raw and real danger. They are safely at home, waiting on the Lord. Pray they can keep good courage as they face sudden new unknowns. As they shared they constantly reiterated that in spite of everything, no matter what happened and happens, God is Sovereign and to Him be the glory.

Last night we watched the first episode of The Bible and again God’s sovereignty impacted my heart. This is I AM, the Same yesterday, today and forever. The God of Abraham and Isaac is the God of you and I. hallelujah! This is our God!
