Betty, Betty...This Week's Wikem Word:Zoetrope

this week's wikem explores the words Zoetrope

As the cylinder spins, the user looks through the slits at the pictures... wikipedia

His trembling hand reaches to touch her
But loses her
In the flicker of years
Like shadows on a tree-lined lane-way
She is there,
Then disappears

He opens his mouth to tell her
How lovely
Are her lips
Then stares,
Who is this stranger
Beneath his fingertips?

He calls to her
Betty, Betty,
She answers,
Soft and kind
But he seems to be looking
For someone he cannot find

One

See you soon:) Click on image for a bigger blue sky...

One of her would like to read
And one would like to ski
And one would like to bake fresh bread
To serve with friends for tea
One would like to clean the house
And polish every glass
And one would like to sit and dream
Of bare-feet trampled grass
One of her would like to stitch
A pretty quilt or two
And one would like to lie beneath
That blue-sky avenue
One would like to pen a poem
Or snooze out in the sun
But if she does not decide soon
One will get nothing done

So after turning the house upside down looking for her purse, one had to change her plans realizing she left it in her friend's car yesterday. Maybe one could do a whole lot on her wish-list if she is wise with her time;-)

Now, That's Living

...so when Victoria asked why the 'special-with-candles' supper it was easy to reply, 'you'...and she twirled away like Mary Poppins singing...Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Don’t ever envy anyone. Just make the most of every moment while you can.

Dorothy McGuire in the movie Claudia

So then, before it is too late,
Lest we stare back with faces grim
Let’s take the moments that yet wait

Let’s soften silences with smiles
Or dash along that outer edge
Where come-and-get-me Day beguiles
Then falls away like silvered sedge

Tomorrow winks with hungry haste
Yesterday like a dead husk lies
Today is all that we can taste
Beneath time’s blue-gray-golden skies

Let's slurp and never mind the spills
But let life drip wild off our chins
Today's once-in-a-lifetime fills
This cup that we hold up; grace grins

Then, dare to do more than just dream
And dare to brave this new day-rise
Dare to dance, glad upon its stream
Seizing each moment like a prize

Lest we stare with our faces drawn
When, oh, alas it is too late
Because ‘what is’ has come and gone
An epitaph on Eon's gate

Unfettered

The world outside the windowpane is white with new-born snow
Where off-spring of time’s womb stirs in the cradle of the east
Mercy’s kind benediction spreads yesterday’s afterglow
Like oceans of compassion in a new and untried feast

We cannot see beyond the veil that drapes perception’s guess
Or tug it from the tresses where Now blesses us with Time
The beauty of love’s duty lays its yoke of brokenness
Across the air; hope and despair align in its design

We borrow from the Giver of time’s river ‘bless and keep’
And within this request upon love’s lane-ways we proceed
Assurance of endurance lies, not in our blind-eyed leap
But in the One who leads and satisfies each moment-need

The world outside the windowpane is white with new-born snow
Time’s off-spring beckons and behooves; come, savor every bite
Mercy’s kind benediction springs from whence all blessings flow
Where oceans of compassion rush unfettered, snowy-white

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isa. 41:10

Not in some fancied faraway
Where’ ifs’ and ‘buts’ bestow
Excuses; God wants us today
Right here, right now

Not in some more convenient ‘then’
Or pretty ‘when-isphere’
God desires our best for Him
Right now, right here

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.James 4:13-14
