Like Scattered Sighs...A Little Christmas Eve Nostalgia:)

(a little Christmas Eve Nostalgia as I remember those who were here last year but no longer...)

Behind us lies what once was the aliveness of Today
Before us who can tell the wherefore of its come-what-may?
Upon a hearth of centuries we scarcely leave a trace
Of this minute existence before After’s long embrace
Still, all that we may make of it and all we ever say
Is always in the twinkling wink of time we call Today

The give and take of sleep and waking seals moments in years
What can we do but our best until time disappears?
For hours keep no tally as they sally through the air
First filtered through God’s mercy then proportioned into care
Where have and hold of growing old reveals how unprepared
We were and are as twilight never leaves one day un-snared

We cannot count mere moments; who can measure their mute span?
But oh, the years they render oft impresses thoughts of man
Where choice tenders its offspring and today offers anew
The opportunity to do those things we ought to do
Because the twinkling wink of time will soon soft-close its eyes
Its quick accumulation of Todays like scattered sighs…

I Wish For You a Happy...

Wishing you and yours a Blessed Christmas!
Come, let us adore Him...

I wish for you a happy day; a happy family
A happy bit-to-sit and have a happy pot of tea
I wish for you a Happy while you hum about your chores
A happy Hope, a happy home where happy loving pours

I wish for you a happy heart; with happy dreams and such
A way to find the Happy as it slips through taste and touch
A happy little cookie with a happy cup of cheer
And a happy-happy-happy because our loved ones are near

I wish for you a happy shelter out of wind and cold
A happy friend, a happy hug and happy hand to hold
A Happy place to share a happy Almost-Memory
A happy pray-God-bless-and-keep, no matter what will be

I wish for you a sky-wide Happy; happy songs and smiles
Happy laughter, happy lighter loads on happy second miles
I wish for you a happy little corner of the earth
For a happy celebration of our Lord and Savior’s birth

Luke 2:9-11
And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.…

A Brown-Before-Christmas Where Wishers Want White...

No one can force the Hand that moves the weather...

The landscape rolls like a rusty, tin can
Out to the pout of a stone-cold, gray sky
Tree-lines like derelicts sketched on its span
Stand at attention in somber reply

Brawny the breeze that was buxom in June
Wishing for whispers that sparkle and glow
Wind-minstrels wander, wonder; heave a tune
While heaven’s levee grows heavy with snow

Earth is a thatch-roof shielding the repose
Of seedling slumber in summer-land’s source
Guarding the bedside of tomorrow’s rose
Waiting for that which nobody can force

Night fizzles, falls like a flattened balloon
Beneath the drizzle of dark-dawning day
People board Possibility’s platoon
On a mud-colored tide they sail away

While the landscape rolls like rusty tin cans
Out to that hole in the wall past the trees
Where old Man Winter is grinning with plans
That we know exist and yet nobody sees

We find it hard to grumble when we remember two years ago...vast power outages due to the worst ice-storm we had in years!

Our power was out from Sat. eve. until Tues. evening (Christmas Eve) Some were without power for almost a week.

Christmas is More...

Christmas is more
Than holly or
The right kind of weather
Christmas is a
Jolly time
Well-spent
Together

Christmas is more
Than fruitcake
Or cookies we bake
It is a storehouse
Sparkling with
Fond memories
We make

Christmas is more
Than a wreath
Or decorated trees
Or what waits beneath
Beribboned and wrapped
Oh, Christmas is
More than these

…Christmas is the
Peace of holding
God’s gift,
His precious Son
In our hearts and then sharing
His love
With everyone

My friend took this photo when she was leaving, after picking up her boys.
We are finishing up icing some sugar-cookies.
(here's to fond memories we make)

I took one of Melissa and Victoria after we finished...

Come and Worship

Greater than religion
Greater than the law
Greater than enormity
Of our human flaw
Greater than oppression
Great than all fame
Is the love and grace of God
Glory to His name
