One Wonderful Word

A sunny smile for a cold, growl-y night...

It crossed my lips today
A lovely little word
And in its lilting assonance
A thousand scenes were stirred
Of bare feet teasing pasture ponds
Or turquoise-skirted beach
Of afternoons, green-gold and bronze
Flavored with sun-ripe peach
Of white adrift on azure seas
Of heady honey-suckle breeze
Through sweeping, sighing willow-trees
Where memories beseech

Who knew a word can kiss
The air with poetry
And hang its pretty verses where
Only thought’s eye can see
Of morning, sweet with dew and dust
Of gardens pink with plume
Of puddle-mirrors, wanderlust
In nature’s living-room
Of fence where musky wild grapes climb
Of honey-bee in blue-bell chime
…One wonderful word; summertime
Sets winter-hearts a-bloom

The Moon-man and His Love

Did you know that Thursday has a new name? Wikem-day; see definition here.

The Moon's gravitational influence produces the ocean tides and the slight lengthening of the day. Wikipedia

The lights along the boulevard poke holes into the dark
A diamond parasol covers slight lengthening of day
Where shape of Time is lithe and lean and slipping silver-gray
Into deep blue adieu where new adventurers embark

The beck and calling-rise and falling-holding-letting go
Reaches like quiet shadows to a place beneath Her skin
She hears upon a sentimental solitude within
Echoes, like lagging sea-song on a garden white with snow

The moon-man does not smile, still, still his solemn comradeship
Touches a chord; a duet borne of love and loneliness
Ignites a strange homesickness for a nameless happiness
Where he and she are worlds apart yet dancing lip to lip

The moon-man murmurs ‘darling’ and the moon-man murmurs ‘dear’
She wonders if his stone-face hurts with tears he cannot weep
Because she cannot promise what she knows she cannot keep
And so she nods; Time knows that soon they both will disappear

Since it is a moon prompt and the season for love I can't resist adding this song...

Hello, Love

Thanks to hubby I'm a diehard Hank Snow fan :)

I love you
Let Time have its way
Darling, nothing
Seems to stay
Save love

I love you
The very best
Darling, we're not lucky
We're blessed
By love

I love you~

Janet

Hubby is a truck-driver but he often stops by to see what's happening here:)

Hey Girls, I Have an Idea

After reading Dayle's post here it inspired me to send a love-note to hubby. Wanna join in the fun and do it too? Let our better-halves know how much we love them!
Sometimes/too often I fail to tell him, assuming he knows, but I think they want to hear it as much as we do, right?

Sometimes I seem   to overlook
the big things I should do
like stop a moment
just to say
I love
you

J~

Love Perseveres...

Someone commented this morning that love perseveres in spite of...
Yes, it does.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Cor.13:7

Love perseveres
Beyond fumbles and stumbles
And grumbles
And going unnoticed
And such

Love perseveres
Beyond pleading and heeding
And needing
And longing for
 Its returned touch

Love perseveres
Through tears and the hurt
That seems to be
It’s testing flip-side
Because

We should love like He
Who first loved full and free
Thus, Love perseveres
It is what
God does
…for us

Lingering Longer

Last night I reached for you
Though you are far from here
I held you dearly to my cheek
In a tear

Love learns to open arms
And mouth ‘love-you’ good-byes
But I can see you soft and clear
Behind closed eyes

Sometimes when I can feel
You near way over there
I hold you close within my heart
In a prayer

Love's Total Sum

There are no exceptions to the laws of God.

There are no crop failures in the life of sin.

...neither can you live an obedient, holy life and it will go wasted.
Charles Stanley

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Gal. 6:7

We should consider
Love’s total sum
Choice designs
Who we become

We should never
Boldly trod
Under our feet
The laws of God

God is love
And holy too
He is not mocked
By me or you

What we do matters
Actions become
What we should remember
Love’s total sum

Love is not spoken
By words we spew
But Love is proven
By what we do

Does love sometimes feel thankless and unappreciated?

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Gal. 6:9

On Finding Love, on Finding God

...sorry for blurring out the three cutest boys around but its a privacy respect thing:)

...so when my friend picked up her boys last evening she asked, wanna go for a hike until its dark and then out for supper courtesy of her boss? so we did! I love surprises that spike the ordinary with a bit of 'extra'

"I am finding that I get refreshed by simple everyday things. The sunrise. A piece of Scripture. Words in a book. A song that comes on the radio while I go get groceries. The artwork of my daughters that hang on my walls. Going out for breakfast with my husband. I can see God in those things, if I have correct vision."
Connie Inglis   excerpt from an article here

Thank-you God
For the way you prove
In everyday-ordinary
That You are love

Thank-you God
There is no 'least of these'
When it comes to love
And memories

Thank-you God
For the joy love brings
In unbridled fathoms
To everyday things
