Lord, What an Awesome God You Are

We have had a whole week of AWESOME moon and sunrises and sunsets!!

Today is Remembrance Day in Canada!
As we reflect on freedom, it's cost,
as we pray for those suffering ravages of war,
we reflect and praise God for a greater, everlasting freedom
found in Christ who died to set all of human race free from the curse of sin and death!

So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
John 8:36

You fling the gates of dawn ajar...
As this morning's sun broke over the far horizon I murmured
Oh Lord, what an awesome God You are!! inspiring today's praise-poem!

Your majesty and divine pow’r none other can transcend
Your Deity debated, until wise in their own eyes

Lord, what an awesome God You are; compassionate and true
As in secret Gethsemanes we look upon your Son

Lord, what an awesome God you are; though oft misunderstood
You fling the gates of dawn ajar with kind Mercy renewed
When Souls are resurrected on that final Judgement Day

Lord, what an awesome God you are; evil will not prevail

  1. Hello Janet! Veteran's Day here... as I was looking up poems and quotes to reflect upon online, most felt like sound bites. Then it dawned on me to check here, because you always speak from the heart and are a reflection of Christ. Today in the U.S. we honor the living who have served... fighting daily struggles most of us will never be forced to understand. Truly so thankful for their service. Your words were much appreciated, thank you!

The remainder of your post reminded me of Michael W. Smith's song, "Our God is an Awesome God." That was before I realized the song you shared is another of his - I didn't know it by the title, but recognized it immediately once the music began. These are 2 praise & worship songs I was raised on. Love them, thank you!!

  2. Hi Megan, Thank-you so much for your visit and beautiful words! I was sort of torn as I contemplated on what to post today! The fight for freedom goes on in so many parts of the world leaving so much suffering in its wake and our God loves us all equally! I am deeply thankful for the freedom in North America and those who serve to protect it, yet I also have a deep concern for its volatility as by and large people turn away from God and the blessing that comes with obeying/seeking Him. We need to pray for our leaders more than ever before, don't we?! We sang Agnus Dei on Sunday at our worship service. It seemed like a foretaste of Heaven! I love Our God is an Awesome God as well! So thankful we can sing them freely without fear of being persecuted! Thank-you again for sharing your thoughts. God bless you and your family!
