Love's Sacred Knot

The tie that binds
Oh, sacred thread
Woven by Holy God
As vows unite
Two hearts to one
And ties love’s hallowed knot

The tie that binds
No hand or pen
Its tenure can annul
Oh, precious cord
Secured by He
Who gives the knot its pull

The tie that binds
Love’s cherished bond
Of truth and faithfulness
A shackle
Not of cumbrous weight
But trust and tenderness

The tie that binds
Its filament
No human hand can sever
The tie that binds
Husband and wife
As God joins them together

This Tie that Binds...A Marriage Poem

This tie that binds
Man cannot see
Nor cut its strands asunder
What God has joined
Will ever be
Until one passes yonder

The sacred promise
Two hearts make
In love’s most holy union
Will form a cord
Man cannot break
By any measure human

Two on earth
Say ‘I take thee’
As hallowed vows are spoken
Two on earth
And God makes three
A cord not quickly broken

This tie that binds
Oh, what great peace
To know man cannot sever
But death, will be
Its sad release
As love lives on forever

This tie that binds
Our grief, our joy
Its tenure will not falter
Though storms refine
But not destroy
The vow made at loves alter

This tie that binds
Man cannot see
Not part its strands asunder
What God has joined
Will ever be
His holy, sacred wonder

A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Eccles. 12:4

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Mark 10:9

Wedding Poem

How can we know how long is the road
Or its twisting and its winding
We stand here today and vow for aye
A promise pure and binding
Upon this earth, for better or worse
Let nothing tear asunder
May God’s will be done as two become one
A thing of heavenly wonder

In sickness and health, in poverty or wealth
In fair or stormy weather
In high tide or low, through-out life’s ebb and flow
May we be stronger together
As we share smiles and tears and as miles become years
May our love and respect never wane
But each to the other be faithful forever
And unto each other remain

May God above with His perfect love
Be our eternal Guide
May He enfold us, keep and hold us
Ever side by side
Husband and wife for the rest of this life
Oh, may it simply be
A foretaste of the love that waits up above
In Heaven’s eternity

He Married His Sweetheart....

He married his sweet-heart today
Promised to love her forever and aye
For better or worse until death doth part
Joined from above with a mystical cord
Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring
But from this day forward they are one ‘with this ring’

Together through good times and bad
Someday to recall what a sweet life they had
To cherish, to love and honor always
And only God knows the number of days
Or how long their vow of forever will be
Before one must cross the last dark sea

He married his sweetheart today
Father in heaven I pray
Keep Your hand on them wherever they go
For mountains are high and the valleys are low
Father, be with them always
He married his sweetheart today
