Gossamer of Lavender and Apricot and Pink


What a morning this morning is/was!
 But so was yesterday morning!!
...and the one before that and the one be...oh, well, you know what I mean!

Ah, here it is, the genesis of what we half-expect
And fill with plans that spill to spans no one can resurrect
Where gossamer of lavender and apricot and pink
Soon slips into the blue of new Today’s refurbished ink

Thought is a great inventor, the epicenter of Choice
Where hands and feet without a word can reveal its true voice
And we are wise to realize that thought left unrestrained
Leads into trouble on the double like a beast unchained

Ah morning, soft adorning hilltop, vale and dell soon fades
It envelopes the sweeps and slopes of hope’s fresh promenades
Then it falls prey to middle day and middle day to dusk
Where dusk soft-seals what God reveals when soul is stripped of husk

It may seem commonplace, this daily grace that renders Time
And we may think its ink is but a metaphor for rhyme
Then, maybe we should think again where yen of thought unchecked
Becomes the root that bears the fruit that we did not expect

This rack of bones packed full of groans and wars of want and need
Is quite a fright without the love of God to intercede
Ho, ho, we know that morn-noon-night, when it is said and done
Is but gossamer stitch-by-stitch with which a life is spun

These verses stole my breath and cheered my heart this morning!
Hope they steal your breath/heart too!

 Eph.3:14-19
 For this reason I kneel before the Father,  from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,  may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

I posted this before listening to this...our Sunday morning message which I missed because I was helping elsewhere in the building! The speaker used the above passage in his message!

Not At The Mercy of Moods


Life's 'Stuff' can crush with emptiness
We all need God to guard our thought
From dungeons of depravity

Yesterday in Judy's latest post entitled Leaks
 I laughed out loud as I read this; Don't 'Should' on yourself!
Thought can make us do that all the time! huh?
This morning Thought threatened to throw its Thrall over 
All There Is To Be Thankful For...




So, in case of despair
I fled to the Throne-room of Prayer!


Moods make us brood while woods and hills spill elemental art
Fond dreams, for all their fuel cannot fill Want’s gaping void
Seasons, like snowflakes fall and melt in pictures to the heart
Kindling a tender duel twixt love torn and over-joyed

We all need God; thought turns on us like storms on listing ships
It leads into temptations to wallow in doubt and fear
Its woulda-shoulda-coulda steals the laughter from our lips
A monster’s roar beneath placid facade of skin, my dear

How quick thought is to deviate from pious Best Intent
Adept Inventor of wars waged twixt Hope and deep despair
Where no one is immune to shrewd impulses Mortal Bent
And none but God can meets us in the Grand Throne Room of prayer

Life’s burdens would be like a millstone hung about the neck
Where Emptiness can drown the Downcast in its plumb-less pit  
We all need God to keep Thought’s Very Wily Will in check
We all need God; So Love can keep Thought’s Fragile Beacon lit

Coming to Grips...with the Thought of Today


...that's what it felt like this morning; SO many reasons to be glad...and sad.
Thought both a weapon and a shield, therefore
foolish to charge forth until we kneel
and commit today to He who will lead the way if we let Him!
yes, even through thorn-pricks of consequence when we were not 
'quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry'...
the first verse in our Sunday morning message. 


Now splays across dew-dressed newness of day
Visions that looking forward will contrive
Thought reaches to imminent come-what-may
For reasons to be glad to be alive
The cricket croons, the swallows dart and dive
In tune with He who has the final say

The golds and grays of high and lows enmesh
Ah, yesterdays and morrows none can clench
Where joy and sorrow-climaxes of flesh
Induce a thirst that no world-well will quench
…and we of rebel-nature cannot wrench
From Mercy’s mysteries, want’s willful ‘yes

Ah, consequence of action slips our mind
If impulse wins before we test its yield
The nugget of an instant, harvest lined
Like seeds, so small until they fill a field
Where what we plant in time will be revealed
To edify and humble humankind

…now splays across the loss and gain of days
Fresh ways to learn to discern love from lust
Thought reaches but cannot predict the ways
Of God; not ours to know but simply trust
Where crickets croon and swallows skim the dust
In tune with He who tips Time’s seasoned trays

Thought Poem on a Thursday



 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2 Cor.10:5
(this is not a Thursday Thoughts post,
just a post about thought on a Thursday:)

This poem was ongoing all day...
I was constantly interrupted by over 300 photo ops!
 I wish I could share most of them...
all day long masterpiece moments made me wish for a head on a swivel!






How in a world of wishing want and taunt do we withstand
Those wily whispers working in the matrix of the mind
Where roster that we foster in secret, mentors the hand
As conception of thought gives birth to deed soon left behind
Then we are wise to scrutinize sly guests we entertain
They author what we do, run through with aftermath’s terrain

Mankind’s plan of attack soon veers off-track if we neglect
To consult Wisdom’s Handbook for infallible decrees
Oh Lord, my God, how awed we ought to be but we forget
And trust the vanity of thought lured by what the eye sees
Yet oh, the sights that often steal our rev'rent breath away
Were authored by the One who wrote the laws we disobey

His law is love; but love of Self is a fool’s syndicate
Me-myself-I aggrandizes boast’s painted devilries
And consorts to waved banners of excuse to vindicate
The pitiful pitfalls that prove Deception’s fallacies
Intent for all its gentlemanly attributes and such
Oftentimes gets distorted somewhere between thought and touch

And just because we meant well does not mean we will not fail
Fancy is quite a master-chef when cooking food for thought
It spreads before the wide-eyed mind buffets of grand regale
Where uninvited guests creep in to feast among the lot
They gorge on tasty morsels which seem innocent and sweet
Until they find their way into indulgent hands and feet

Ho, ho, we are in trouble when the lords of vanity
Exchange that which is Holy for sight-sanctioned substitute
Discretion like a marshal brings into captivity
Each argument and pretense that defies Godly statute
How in a world of want and taunt does Thought withstand defeat?
By scrutinizing every guest that tries to take a seat

Today's 'thought-guests' were treated to lots of laughter courtesy of two little three-ish year old girlies...


example 1: girl one reading to girl two (as she turned the pages and looked at the pictures) "Once upon a time there was"...and so forth until I caught the ending
 'then he said, well you know what? I am a dad so I can be the daddy 
and she said, well, I'm a mom so I can be the mommy,
 then they vewy, vewy fell in love and lived hapwy evew aftoh!" 
(then they very, very fell in love and lived happily ever after:)

Example 2: girl two, after realizing she talked to me in a very steady monotone 
crinkled up her face, looked up at me with big blue eyes and said,
 "oh deaw, I was talking like a wobot!"
(oh dear. I was talking like a robot!)

...after above hike I picked up a box of 20 timbits for their snack while we drove home.
 After we were driving for a bit they asked if they may have 'another one'.
"How many have you eaten so far?" I ask
Fwee, came the reply.
OK, says I, you may have another one.
When we got home I looked in the box. There were 4 left.
I guess their counting needs a little 'practice'!
But we gals all sometimes just have 'fwee', right;-)
(and never mind if we missed a few!!lol)


...and before I knew it dusk fell where morn mist, 
it seemed had swathed the vale but a bit ago!
