Come, Come Sweet Virgin Day...

Come, come, oh virgin day
Loitering on the breeze
For soon you slip away
To tune our memories

Reveal your mystery then
Moment by moment grace
From heaven down to men
From God to our embrace

What spurs Time’s moment-hues
To pour from springs above
While we use and abuse?
Ah yes, it must be Love

So come, sweet virgin day
Canvas of want and will
For soon your songs will play
At night when all is still

A Moment's Worth

To pine or fret for what is not
Is simply wasting what we've got
A moment tarries, but a wink
Before it hastens o'er the brink
Into the intangible flow
Of history's mortal bliss or woe
The triumph of its centuries
Played out in moments such as these

Moment of Potential

When all my numbered days have fled
Beyond the sweeping sky
And I awake
Not in my bed
But in the by and by
Then it will be too late for me
To love my fellowman
Now is life’s lone opportunity
To do the best I can

We do not live in ages spent
Nor in the mystic morrow
Now is the moment God has lent
To bear life’s joy and sorrow
We dare not pine, with backward glance
To past’s resolute span
Now is love’s rare, redeeming chance
To do the best we can
