A Life-long Learning...

The work and worry of this world
Can bleed a lifetime dry
Its seasoned floors and corridors
Perplex the craving sigh
The crawlspace of ten thousand years
Hinges upon each breath
Eternity and moment-spree
Juxtaposed; life with death

The passageway from Here to There
Is littered with lost tears
Man’s gaudy toast or bravest boast
Cannot assuage our fears
For the Unknown no one can know
Save He who tunes the tides
While mortals curse, the universe
In flawless discourse bides

Annulment wrought by human mind
Though humankind oft tries
Cannot appease with fantasies
This slip-of-skin demise
Where work and worry of this world
Would bleed soul-bearings dry
Lest we adhere with reverent fear
To He who knows the Why

 Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

 Job 28:28
And he said to the human race, "The fear of the Lord--that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding."

Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Our son has begun to take a keen interest in world news; esp. politics and the American election campaign. Last night as he voiced some valid fears and I searched for words of reassurance all I could
do was encourage him to be informed but not consumed, because we have no idea what the future holds...but God does and any words of comfort without placing our trust in Him, are meaningless!
Oh, but trust is a life-long learning...

Ignorance's Masquerade

Knowledge gloats, bickers and drivels
When stripped of the Giver’s guide
Wisdom resounds, Heaven's Phoenix
From ashes of Adamic pride

Knowledge makes noise, a student
Never acquiring its goal
Without Wisdom’s divine nature
Infiltrating the Whole

Knowledge, but a battered scepter
In Ignorance’s masquerade
If we deny the Creator
Whereby all things are made

No matter how well-learned someone may be, they cannot be aware of the absence of authenticity when an attitude of atheism fails to acknowledge the One whereby all knowledge is given.

Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, Prov. 1:5

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Prov.1:7

For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Prov.2:6

Knowledge and Wisdom

We may have knowledge
To cover the earth
But it’s what we do with it
That measures its worth

***

Knowledge on its own
Is not of much use
Knowledge without wisdom
Is like a tree without roots

***

One may absorb a world of knowledge
Yet be unprepared for the strife
Of living, for wisdom is not found in college
But in the lessons of life

***

Knowledge without wisdom
Is like a ship without a sail
Its hold is full of luggage
At the mercy of the gale

***

Knowledge is a hat
Wisdom is a crown

(I began this as a 'Thursday thoughts' post, but Thursday ran out of hours:)

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Prov. 4:7

Scripture teaches us the importance of knowledge and wisdom and understanding.

Incompletions...

Sometimes it bothers me
To realize
That I know too much
About too little

Silver drops of time expand
And knowledge inflates
The mind
With nothing

Wisdom; the wise covet it and learn
But oh, I cannot rush wisdom
And I know too little
About too much

There are things I know too much of
That I desire to know nothing about
and there are things I know nothing of
That I would desire to know  much about

Of All We Full Well Know...

Full well we know we cannot see
Beyond our toil and trouble
Full well we know eternity
Will claim life’s fleeting bubble

Full well we know tis but one life
Allotted to each man
Full well we know we aught to give
The best of what we can

Full well we know these days of grass
Fall swiftly to oblivion
And soon eternities will pass
One moment as a million

Full well we know His way is Peace
His grace has paid our debt
And though full well we know all this
How sadly we forget

Full well we know Time is a glance
Full well we realize
We cannot fathom timelessness
Above life’s little skies

Full well we know we do not know
The ways of Providence
Yet, by the mercies He bestows
His gifts are evidence

…of Love and Joy and Hope and Peace
To comfort us below
In all of life uncertainties
For all we do not know

Poetic Bloomings Prompt: Uncertainties

Oh, What Then?

We observe in astonishment
Man’s newest accomplishment
And wonder what will follow
Scientists place
Their cameras in space
As we glimpse infinity’s hollow
Medicine keeps the dying alive
But no matter how we study and strive
We cannot touch the order
Of God-ordained things
Or alter the courses
His authority brings
Mornings will ever succeed the night
Two wrongs will never make a right
We all get older with each passing hour
And none are exempt from His grace or His power
No one can order the rain from the sky
There is no invention so we will not die
We cannot shuffle seasons in nature or man
Or rearrange one molecule of His plan
For He IS God, we are merely men
We are born, we die; and oh, what then?

Perhaps we ought to take a closer look
At His Word and teaching of His Book
For nothing will happen that He has not told
His truths are unfolding since centuries of old
Knowledge is admiral; His gift to men
But if we ignore the Giver; oh, what then?

Outer space images fill me with utter wonderment and awe!
How GREAT is our God.
He has given men the knowledge to glimpse infinity, but we CANNOT add one jot to TIME!

Time is a wee capsule...what then?
Oh, that's right! Eternity.
But His Book shows us the way to Him eternally. He did not leave us as sheep without a Shepherd for He IS love.
