A Giant Leap in the Right Direction

Today, if we would be the way God wishes us to be
Let’s try to be a little kinder to our fellowman
Where fundamental need is kindred whether we agree
On how or what should be done when; let’s do the best we can
To do to others as we would that they would do to us
And not fuss, fret or fume because of difference in style
But simply love each other with the kindness of Jesus
Instead of criticism let’s encourage more, and smile
Let’s be content instead of lament and jealousy-cursed
Instead of rude impatience let’s be more gracious and meek
Instead of me-me-me let’s put the need of others first
And oh, let’s think a little more before we simply speak

Kind Word Art

No smiles for the camera today...
But my, she sure brightens a rainy-no-gardening morning!

A kind word is like sunshine
To kiss the bud of gloom
It breaks the shell where wonders dwell
Then swell into glad bloom

A kind word is like ointment
To soothe the wounds of woe
Its gentle grace will heal the place
Where harsh words dealt their blow

A kind word is like laughter
To cheer the dreary day
Like Baby's smiles, it sweetens miles
That had seemed dull and gray

A kind word is like flowers
A garden on the air
It calms distress with happiness
And brings hope to despair

A kind word is a rainbow
Above the storms of life
A tender spark to break the dark
With love’s unfailing light

A kind word is a diamond
Drawn from a heap of stones
Where haters hurled shards from a world
Of base and broken thrones

A kind word is a picture
Of how heaven will be
It paints its art upon the heart
In perfect poetry

A kind word is a gift, dear
That we can all afford
And what can ease life's miseries
Better than a kind word

A Mighty Difference

It's that word 'inasmuch' I replied to Victoria,
when she wondered why I said 'yes' the other week when 'no'
felt far more comfortable!
That word 'inasmuch' is life-changing when you stop to picture this scene!!!

But, I added, I wish I could say my love is greater than the call of duty...
that's the kicker; whether action is a clanging cymbal only or from the heart!

It makes a mighty difference
If what we say and do
When weighed in worship’s balance, Lord
Is said and done for You

How special then each humble task
How reverent life’s call
Where not one duty that You ask
Is counted as too small

Where ‘inasmuch’ keens heart and soul
To look beyond Time’s shell
To pray, when death unveils the Whole
We served our Master well

Mighty Metamorphosis or Torch-bearer

 I have a little book entitled Passages of Kindness;
This quote is on the back cover ...

A kind word is a treasure we can all afford

The kind word that you said to me
Shaped today’s gray into a smile
So I could brighten up and be
The light to someone else’s mile
And they in turn took heart and held
The hand of someone down and out
Where torch-and-burden-bearers meld
Into what love is all about

Human-kind...

Whoever in the world we are
Wherever we may be
However rich or poor we share
Much commonality

For joy and sorrow’s high and low
Or love or longing’s sigh
Or God’s free grace whereby we go
Is mortal’s kindred tie

With hurts and hopes and wants and needs
We walk-run-fall-crawl-climb
(If we are known by our deeds
Let’s make them worth our time)

Then, for the sake of greater good
With fellowman in mind
It makes one wonder why we would
Be anything but kind

And be ye kind one to another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Eph.4:32
