Prime Example

PAD Challenge day 11:For today’s prompt, write a prime poem.

Our Prime Example grants pure, perfect purpose to
all we do...for Him!

Lest love leaves us looking for a little more than life can give
We should use its Prime Example to learn how we ought to live
Bringing many sons to glory through love’s precious sacrifice

He with a Father’s compassion primes dawn’s blush on eastern brim
How He cares for we who He formed in His image, soul instilled

(So much more to love’s big picture than these little days of man)
We should strive with awed endeavor to mirror God’s sympathy
(He who did not spare His Best for the sake of humanity)

We are all brothers and sister, born to love and not to slay
None of us is least or greater (no matter what people say)
And His precious Prime Example; only love can set us free

Then, lest love should leave us looking for less than Mercy’s intent
We should imitate the passion that left the temple’s veil rent

For he knows how we are formed and he remembers we are dust
As a father has compassion for His Children, so the Lord
Does not give what we deserve but reserves Heaven as reward

If Your Son Was A Chip Off The Old Block

If your son was a chip off the old block
And followed the footsteps you laid
Would we know, would it show that he loved God
By laws he revered and obeyed

Would we see him reach for his Bible?
To look to his Father above
For life’s daily guidance and counsel
Would we see God’s light in his love

If your son was a chip off the old block
Inheriting more than your name
Would it make you humbly thankful?
Or sorrowfully fill you with shame

Would he be a man among men, sir?
Or ever remain just a boy
Would he, in his speech and his manner
Fulfill a father’s pride and joy

Would he be master of his vices
As he mirrors more than your face
Would he, by his words and his choices
Make this world a better place?

And, if as time passed, folk would mention
How much he is just like his dad
If your son was a chip off the old block
Would this make you happy or sad?

Proverbs 13:24
He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.

Proverbs 23:24
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice;
he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

Prov.10:1
A wise son maketh a glad father:

Bedrock of Wealth

Oh, would that we from here to there
Not by the wealth of coin defined
But by our love for God and man
Leave a rich heritage behind

Oh, may the treasure that we store
Not be of dust and rust-prone hoard
But earnestly and carefully
A daily seeking of our Lord

And may those stepping-stones we lay
For those who follow where we trod
Be rooted and unshakeable
Grounded within the Word of God

...and if they say Mother or Dad
May it bring a great gladness then
As they grow up, to know we had
Love and respect for fellowmen

Oh, would that we from here to there
Be mindful of our children’s sake
And live each day within a prayer
Then leave its fortune in our wake
