Not What We See But How

With eyes man sees but thought perceives
The Matriarch of Difference
For sight is dead if left unwed
With Belief’s holy reverence

With eyes man gapes at sundry shapes
And ogles Subject’s outer form
But with the heart Faith unveils art
That takes our outward gaze by storm

We, soul-spun skin, look see, frown, grin
For what we see depends a lot
Not on facade but we and God
And who we serve within our thought

 Psalm 19:7-9

The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
    enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
