Who, What, Why

The ‘what’ we do is serious, yes
It commands our best try
But even more important than
The ‘what’ is this; the ‘why’

The ‘why’ with which we do the ‘what’
Is at the very core
Of ‘who’ we prove we love and serve
Through ‘why’ we do ‘what’ for

Romans 12:1 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 12:10-11(KJV) Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.

  1. Why certainly affects how we do the what....thought provoking and true Janet.

    2. This poem was inspired by friends who are missionaries and they are often called upon to make hard decisions. He said when he is unsettled he often asks himself 'why' as he weighs each option. The 'why' often reveals the 'who' he is trying to please and the answer becomes clear.
