A Little of Me

If you know I love carefully and completely
You might know me…a little
If you know I remember bitter-sweetly
You might know me…a little
If you know I do not want pleasure without pain
If you know I love the music of the rain
You might know me…a little

If you know I prefer honesty to good looks
You might know me… a little
If you know I love old letters and old books
You might know me…a little
If you know I’m an ‘all or nothing’ girl
And I do not care for ‘things’ in this world
Then you might know me…a little

If you know I choose coffee, not tea
You might know me…a little
And my ‘heaven’ includes music and poetry
You might know me… a little
If you know I find happiness
In gardens and sunsets and nature’s caress
You might know me…a little

If you know you will never know me completely
You might know me...a little
If you know I speak best through poetry
You might know me...a little
Here you see a small piece of my soul
As I pour out a part, but never the whole
So you might know me...a little
Janet~

    lovely photo of you!

And I do know just a little more about you. you prefer coffee to tea. and i am the opposite only because coffee does not make me feel very good so I drink it occasionally.

thank you for sharing a little more of you. what a wonderful piece!

  2. Hope, I am happy to know you a little as well. Isn't that the way of poetry? We see but a small piece of the poet...because the allure is in the mystery, is it not?

I wish you and yours a Happy Easter as well,
God Bless as we celebrate life!

  3. So nice to meet you, Janet, through Poets United and what a great first poem in which to discover you! I love it...........I love all the same things except, in my case, tea trumps coffee! Loved your poem. I look forward to reading more of your work.

  9. The reiteration of 'a little' draws attention to the fact that you are a lover of privacy and that we have witnessed just a little.

  10. Like how the poem in its content seem to echo your personality. A little bit revealed but not too much. Cleverly done.
