Gossamer of Lavender and Apricot and Pink


What a morning this morning is/was!
 But so was yesterday morning!!
...and the one before that and the one be...oh, well, you know what I mean!

Ah, here it is, the genesis of what we half-expect
And fill with plans that spill to spans no one can resurrect
Where gossamer of lavender and apricot and pink
Soon slips into the blue of new Today’s refurbished ink

Thought is a great inventor, the epicenter of Choice
Where hands and feet without a word can reveal its true voice
And we are wise to realize that thought left unrestrained
Leads into trouble on the double like a beast unchained

Ah morning, soft adorning hilltop, vale and dell soon fades
It envelopes the sweeps and slopes of hope’s fresh promenades
Then it falls prey to middle day and middle day to dusk
Where dusk soft-seals what God reveals when soul is stripped of husk

It may seem commonplace, this daily grace that renders Time
And we may think its ink is but a metaphor for rhyme
Then, maybe we should think again where yen of thought unchecked
Becomes the root that bears the fruit that we did not expect

This rack of bones packed full of groans and wars of want and need
Is quite a fright without the love of God to intercede
Ho, ho, we know that morn-noon-night, when it is said and done
Is but gossamer stitch-by-stitch with which a life is spun

These verses stole my breath and cheered my heart this morning!
Hope they steal your breath/heart too!

 Eph.3:14-19
 For this reason I kneel before the Father,  from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,  may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

I posted this before listening to this...our Sunday morning message which I missed because I was helping elsewhere in the building! The speaker used the above passage in his message!

    Janet, are you working on a book of your poetry? I would be lining up to get copies of it! I do lovely your work. So beautiful and full of lovely thoughts and images and metaphors.

    1. Dear Brenda, if I do a book you would surely be mentioned in the thank-yous...a voice of appreciation and encouragement through the years!I would love to do a book someday. I wonder if God is nudging me to think about it more seriously. Last week out of the blue my oldest sister called and wondered if by any chance I'm giving doing a book more serious thought because she thinks sooner rather than later would be great! I chuckled and wondered if she would understand if she could get a firsthand peek into the kitchen where I stood with two tots at my feet;-0 Busy, noisy times most days but I told her I would try to think about it more so I have begun including it in my prayer-life...a Lord, help me know if/when/how?!

    2. Perhaps putting your blog of poetry into a book form would be a good beginning. Your poems would fit so beautifully into a Seasons theme. I know there are blog-to-print sites out there, but I haven't found one that I'm truly happy with. There must be something that would work for you in your busy life. // Something I have noticed for myself is that a seed of an idea that gets planted one day has often taken years to come into fruition. The very first time He put it in my pathway wasn't the time to begin, but the time to consider. Maybe it takes a while for us to get used an idea and I think He is so good at remembering that, giving us plenty of time to get used to it. Perhaps this is your winter-dreaming season.

    3. thank-you Brenda, very much for your counsel! Last year when the families I provided childcare for no longer required it I prayed asking God if He still wanted me to do childcare then He would send the children or I would wait and see what next. Someone asked The Very Next Day if I would consider caring for their child! So I do not doubt that I am where He wants me in that regard. I also trust Him for the next open doors. like you say... I feel like the seed of the idea has been planted. And Lord willing He will help bring the rest about!
