For The Sake Of Time...

We have a beloved elder at our church who among his earnest admonition, encouragement and praise to Jesus for His love and wonders thereof, often inserts  the words 'for the sake of time I won't etc, etc'...
Those words struck me today...
'Oh, to feel the joy of a child', murmured an onlooker...
...unhindered, as yet, by the threat of Time
... their expressions at the sound of the dinner-bell... priceless!

Lord, teach us how to take the Time
to make the most of the Time we have
with what matters most!
For the sake of Time we ought to consider how it is lent
Walk a slow while among flowers; lie beneath its sky-blue tent
Keep an ear tuned to the tempo of moment-oh, tick-tock fare
While we learn to love each other like we have no time to spare

For the sake of Time we ought to consider how it is spent
Like merchants of something far more lasting than dollars and cents
Idle on a hilltop, darling, beneath breeze of plum and musk
Listen to the croon of wind-song where noonday soon turns to dusk

For the sake of Time we ought to consider how it is sent
From a Hand of love and mercy to a land of discontent
From the One who knows the number of days we have left to live
For the sake of Time we ought to worry less and simply give

For the sake of Time we out to consider how it is bent
Leaning, ever leaning nearer to the point of fulfillment
Where, when time’s last breath is taken we will waken to the soul
For the sake of time we ought to consider Time’s timeless goal

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Matt.25:40
