Morning Maiden

Click images to enlarge...

She blushes beneath murmured advances
Touching the fingers of time’s out-stretched hand
Over the brink of pink skyline fences
Morning comes rushing like sea over sand

Washing the deep of its sleep-colored skin
Kissing earth’s cheek with a come-get-me grin
Over the north-side with its wooded slope
She melts night’s shadows in cauldrons of hope

Then, growing bolder she climbs the glass tree
And pins up the sun where the moon hung, then she
Splashes hill, fallow and hollows near-far
Dusting the morning with diamonds and stars

 …and did she forget or did she wipe a tear
When time touched lightly his lips to her ear?
Knowing how soon we would yank at her hair
Did she wish for kinder appointments elsewhere?

...sharing a few more shots from yesterday's morning. The first line of this poem I wrote at dawn this morning when she blushed,

before slipping into a demure gown of gray,

Praise the Name of the Lord

 Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
    praise him in the heights!
Praise him, all his angels;
    praise him, all his hosts!
Praise him, sun and moon,
    praise him, all you shining stars!
Praise him, you highest heavens,
    and you waters above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of the Lord!
    For he commanded and they were created.
And he established them forever and ever;
    he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth,
    you great sea creatures and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and mist,
    stormy wind fulfilling his word!
Mountains and all hills,
    fruit trees and all cedars!
10 Beasts and all livestock,
    creeping things and flying birds!
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples,
    princes and all rulers of the earth!
12 Young men and maidens together,
    old men and children!
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
    for his name alone is exalted;
    his majesty is above earth and heaven.
14 He has raised up a horn for his people,
    praise for all his saints,
    for the people of Israel who are near to him.
Praise the Lord!

Psalms 148
