Of Refreshed Footholds...

From the rising to the setting of the sun,
the name of the LORD is praised.
Psalm 113:3

Finding a refreshed foothold on fathoms of endless deep
Day draws its waking breath in golden breadths of heaven’s sweep
The eloquence of moments spills without the gift of speech
Dawn, always laden with a sheaf of new lessons to teach

Today is always new, where we, never too old to learn
Are students, educated by the hand of no return
Where one’s wisdom increases not with easy song-and-dance
But by unequivocal truth that trips our arrogance

The seasoned way of seasons seeps through skylines and through skin
It does not cater to our whims of disgruntled chagrin
But woos the way it always has where highs and lows entwine
Into a labyrinth of tear-and-laughter grafted vine

Let’s labour to be thankful to the Giver of our days
And not let longing rankle what should be a hymn of praise
From mercy-meted rising to the setting of the sun
Let’s turn want into worship for the war our Lord has won

All-day Hallelujah Hymn

...when I awake, I am still with you.

A frosty veil of lavender pastel drapes hill and dell
Morning is like a Masterpiece perched on Earth’s pedestal
How easily the best and worst of days gather and fade
Into the melting pot of dusk and memories we made
How daily we hail hope, a halo on the eastward brim
That spreads across the sky in daybreak’s hallelujah hymn

The hour starts to bare the secrets that it had concealed
And yet we never fully know what waits-to-be will yield
What whisper-wrapped surprises waft to emphasize God’s grace
And sacredness of what may often feel quite commonplace
Where even now, poised on the prow of Mercy’s endless store
Hope spills in hallelujah hymns no one has heard before

The Sacred Grail of dawn grows pale, and so new day begins
Breath-taking backdrops disappear as daybreak’s veneer thins
To thoroughfares of sorrow-cares and proof that God is good
Where happiness is nothing more than loving as we should
And joining with creation in a song that does not dim
An all-day celebration of dawn’s hallelujah hymn

What will today hold? who knows!
Yesterday the little girl I have had in my care for the past year and a half
became a big sister!
We are so thankful for Baby's safe arrival.
This week new kiddos, routines/adjustments begin!

 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24

Ah, Heart's Desire...

How is it that love both triggers and feeds the heart's desire?!

This heart-melter is as perfect as heart's desire can ever be!
Grand-daughter is 11mos. old!

Ah, heart’s desire; like a fire burning on a hidden hearth
Ah, who can know what fuels it; what metes the measure of its worth
A little seed can sprout into a mighty oak; a spark can start
An infernal, out of control; thus the desires of the heart

Longing can burn a hole into the fabric of what is no more
Regret can set a stumbling block; futile to rattle Bygone’s door
Ah, heart’s desire; moments lap at kindling, hope-and-heartache stacked
Where soon the heat of phantom flickers turns to ash…and its impact

The keeper of thy flame should guard the heart with wise and watchful eye
For what seems hidden soon reveals itself in word and deed’s reply
Where what seemed quite contained can turn into a perilous wildfire
If we do not pay careful heed to what we feed our heart’s desire

Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

As water reflects the face,
so one’s life reflects the heart.

The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.

May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.

The Lord does not look at the things people look at.
People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Be Of Good Cheer

Thinking of those going through deep waters...
the list is LONG!
Oh God, comfort and strengthen them!
"When you go through deep waters, I will be with you."
Isa.43:2

Though loss and pain may torture our Present Happiness

Never leaves or forsakes us though the test leaves senses numb

Be strong and of good courage; fellow-friend, be not afraid
Withersoever we must go God IS; be not dismayed

Take courage, it is I, cries He who walks upon the sea
Where we would sink in sad despair without Hope’s guarantee

Be still; and know that I am God’ He whispers through the gale

Came across this poem recently; one I recall from long ago
but have not read in decades;
 a true gem by anonymous

When God Wants To Drill A Man

When God wants to drill a man,
And thrill a man,
And skill a man
When God wants to mold a man
To play the noblest part;
When He yearns with all His heart
To create so great and bold a man
That all the world shall be amazed,
Watch His methods, watch His ways!

How He ruthlessly perfects
Whom He royally elects!
How He hammers him and hurts him,
And with mighty blows converts him
Into trial shapes of clay which
Only God understands;

While his tortured heart is crying
And he lifts beseeching hands!
How He bends but never breaks
When his good He undertakes;
How He uses whom He chooses,
And which every purpose fuses him;
By every act induces him
To try His splendor out-
God knows what He’s about.

Should Be Like Night And Day...

Happy March!...and here's to our ongoing 'marching' orders!
Where the battle that exists twixt good and evil requires our full attention,
Where living by the Spirit should in no way resemble following the flesh!

Should be like night and day; the old man and the new
What we do now should not relate to what we used to do

Should be like black and white; the way we are and were
Where now we walk by faith, not sight, when we become God’s heir

Should be like dark and light; the world twixt lust and love
A transformation evident by what our choices prove

Should be like death to life; that sacred exodus

...should be like night and day; like a captive set free
When we have put to death the person that we used to be

Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit,
if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.
And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
Romans 8: 8-9

What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase?
Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus
were baptized into His death?…
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires.
Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness,
but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life;
and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.
Romans 6:1-3, 12-13

Here's some kind caution and encouragement...
