The Other Side of Why/Clouds

May has offered up a ceaseless cloud panorama
both in the sky and on the ground💔😢

Many sky-lovers gaze up at the underbelly of clouds and marvel
at their show, quite oblivious to the golden light dancing and dazzling
the other side of them.
(from the ground we only ever see the dark side of clouds)

Clouds; we prefer them in the sky rather than
the metaphorical clouds of life which press and darken days.
But some day the other side will be revealed and the 'why'
of many a care and test will dissolve in the resplendence of
the glory of the Lord.
As so magnificently described in yesterday's devotion from the book
Storms in the Desert...

We cannot see the other side of clouds that hide the light
That dazzles vaults and valleys veiled from the limits of sight
Faith's Substance of things hoped for, Evidence of things not seen
May lead where waters seem not still, nor pastures soft and green

We cannot understand the Higher Thought and Ways of He
Who orchestrates the pontoons that sail heavens boundless sea
Nor can we comprehend the fulness of the miracle
Till heaven flings ajar its gates and fades faith's tear-stained hull

The other side of trial's tears of suffering will be
Not thousand or a million years, but for eternity
So, thus we fight the sacred fight and pray faith will not fail
Until God's Everlasting Light will rend time's transient veil

1 Cor.13:12
For now we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part;
but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Glory-scape

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Ps.19:1
It was an all-day-long proclamation of God's glory today...

The heavens declare His glory
Over earth’s four-season span
Masterpiece succeeds master-piece
Like only the work of God can

From ground-level lane-plain grandstands
Our humble hands applaud
For all one needs is to look up
To witness the glory of God

Declaration of God's Glory...

How like a God of glory to remind us who He is
Upon a canvas none can reach to touch and thus defile...
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
 Ps.19:1

The colors of the sky hung o’er the holy march of hours
Appeases, teases restless eyes; we gaze awestruck at art
Of day-to-day and night-to-night like a garden of flow’rs
Rousing with age-old splendor renewed wonder to the heart

If threaded bit by bit upon a string its shades would stun
The master jewelers of this world, for who can snare in stone
Saffron, chartreuse, slate, blush rose or garnet and gold of dawn
The ebony of midnight and the sapphire of high noon

God tips the grail of mist-kissed veil, of pewter raindrop jars
Beneath the heath of heaven we fumble with day-to-days
While night-to-night we marvel at a meadowland of stars
After the wester sky soft-dies and tenders twilight’s blaze

How like a God of glory to remind us who He is
Upon a canvas none can reach to touch and thus defile
But as a Grandly symbol of His boundless tenderness
He spills the colors of his love into a sky-wide smile

October Skies

October hangs up one masterpiece after another!

October skies are like a prize for eyes
Wild tumbled hues of gray-gold-blue surprise
Awe cannot be detailed, regaled with word
October skies inspire sighs soft-stirred

Beneath the heath of heaven seasons brim
Time’s hierarchy an ever-shifting scrim
Common moments are something to behold
...October hangs skies, blue-gray-blush and gold

Above October gardens decomposed
Skies bloom, celestial Masterworks exposed
Earth’s room has window-seats where we can sit
Sunrise and sunset fill the frame of it

Ten-thousand-thousand miracles expire
No one can name them, heaven is on fire
With October and possibility
Its skies surprise prayers with humility

The roof of earth pokes through leaf canopies
October lowers awnings, fills its eaves
With clash of tempests, joy-grief filigree
Where one without the other cannot be

October skies are Paradise half-told
To we, poised on earth’s blue-dot pot of gold
Where we exclaim, as if discovery
Were thought's first prize; October's skies are free

yes, even late-day, slate-gray skies bear a brave beauty!

November Eyes...

I am in love with you
You make my summer-heart race
Ever the moody fellow
With ponderous, beguiling face
Whether of gaze downcast
Or rugged, or scowling or blue
I can’t help myself
From falling
In love
With you…

You color the air that I breathe
The shade of your restless sighs
Broods outside my window
Until I get lost in your eyes
Then, you spill a reckless half-grin
Tease me with purple and gold
Some days a bashful urchin
And other days calloused and bold

Summer can never compete
Matador of sizzling romance
But you spill your tears at my feet
Lure me to forgive you and dance
Poet, philanderer, rogue
What is it about your eyes?
For I cannot resist you
My darling November skies

Awesome Artist

He sweeps a dripping brush across the sky
Soundless, beyond the silhouette of trees
The artist spills celestial ecstasies
Of pink and coral blush, translucent dye

Perplexities and pining ease their grip
With gentle strokes in heaven-hallowed calm
He feather’s harsher edges with his palm
Beneath twilight’s tender companion-ship

In benediction of purple and blue
The artist dips his brush into a wash
And flings into the hush a starry sash
Daubing the vivid sky-line from our view

Painter of heaven’s ceaseless canopy
Cool darkness snuffs the burnished tree-lined slope
The Artist fills the endless sky with hope
 In master-pieces of His majesty

...and in the tender twilight growing dim
The Artist reveals but whispers of Him

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Psalms 19:1

(approx. an hour before the sun set I looked up to notice a strange rain-bow tinted blitz in the sky.)

Happy Birthday, Dave

Tonight when you look up to the sky, bro
And think of the years that have flown
Will there be a tear in your eye, bro
As you ponder the course of the sun?

…and tonight when you hear twilight’s sonnet
Quiver in the deepening west
Will you pause to remember life’s losses
Or how you have been richly blessed?

Tonight when you gaze at the stars, bro
Will you feel infinitely small?

And wonder that He who paints skies, bro

Tonight when you contemplate time, bro
Where will your musing dwell?
For you’ve known some up-hill climbs, bro
Disappointment; you know it well…

…but life is a canvas of mystery, bro
And God is a faithful Friend
As this year slips into history, bro
Do you wonder what waits ‘round the bend?

And tonight when you look at the sky, bro
Recalling the years that have passed
Will the only thing you really know
Be this? Life goes by way too fast

Happy 47th Birthday, Dave…from one sky-lover to another…Enjoy!

Here is a teeny glimpse of my sky-shot collection:)

This is the time-frame where I always think of mom and wonder how she did it! My brother Stuart turned 45 on May 28th, Dave turns 47 today, I turn 46 next week and the following week my sister (the oldest child in our family) turns 48...!!! and as you can see in the previous post, Mom is still going strong!...after raising 10 children...after the first four she had 3  girls and then 3 boys!!! I remember we begged her (as if she ordered us from a catalog or something, to PL-E-E-E-ASE have a set of twins to complete our family...didn't happen:)
