The Best That Boast Can Laud (begins and ends with God)

Happy...Friday?!! Already😅🙏💗

So many sweet photo-op skies this week...
Below, just a few!

Col.1:15-17
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
16For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities.
All things were created through Him and for Him.
17He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

All beauty we behold is divinely founded!
without God's mercy and might to hold it in place
it would all fall!

Artists, since the beginning mimic His creation,
all inspiration of God-breathed origin!

My poetic endeavors have been challenged this week
it seems. It flew by in a blink of blessing!

Mon.-Food safety and management course,

Tues.-grand-sonny visit, appointment, small group gettogether,

Wed. finishing food prep and delivery for event mentioned here
Thursday-Help my mom with spring-cleaning (forgot camera!!)😭
...and just like that!!! It's Friday!

Today I am prepping food and house
for our youngest daughter's birthday celebration
on the weekend!
A whole bunch of friends staying over while
Jim and I stay out😅💝

I began this poem yesterday morning!
The first line fell from Heaven as I stood admiring the sky
while rubbing sleep from my eyes...

Time’s fountain brims with life; it peals from belfries gold and gray
Its showstoppers run rife; God never takes a holiday
The Hand that tunes the tide that ebbs and flows with season-sweeps
Regales the countryside with color, crowned with boundless deeps
The best that boast can laud as brush and pen rush awe’s grandstands
Begins and ends with God; each work of art drawn from His hands

He grants the breathless dance of worship’s unrehearsed requiem
And cheers hope’s countenance with refreshment where mercies stream
In wonders of creation, from the wellspring of his Word
Reasons for celebration overflow and undergird
To kindle exaltation that is incomparable
Salvation’s invitation still extends to one and all

God’s goodness never ceases to thrill the soul that believes
Unrivaled masterpieces humble all mankind achieves
Thus, the best boast can muster as we meditate on This
Are endeavors to trust Him more because of Who He IS
His faultless Influence imparts the best that boast can laud
All art we woo from hands and hearts begins and ends with God

© Janet Martin

Every artist who ever has dipped pen or brush
 into inkwells and paint palettes
draws from scenes cupped and cradled in God's Hands!
Thus every work of art ought to be signed-
By His grace
For His glory!

Delight's Attention Spans

A few delights caught on camera,
that helped inspire today's poem...

Clouds heaped on deeps of boundless blue,

a grape-embellished vine...

He spills Majesty’s showcases, in petals, paper-thin...

A flower in its precious prime,

 a bud, bursting to tell
(I am so eager for this hibiscus to begin blooming!!)

A bloom, bowed by the toll of Time’s unyielding carousel...

To mint and silver-dazzled mist of dew-kissed fennel-frond

God draws delight’s attentions to beauties and mercies fine
Clouds heaped on deeps of boundless blue, a grape-embellished vine
A flower in its precious prime, a bud, bursting to tell
A bloom, bowed by the toll of Time’s unyielding carousel
A treetop, cobbled to the moon, a pot of garden stew
A bit of summer afternoon left after work is through

He spills Majesty’s showcases, in petals, paper-thin
He wills unfathomed graces to a world blighted by sin
Four-season feasts of grandeur, great and small, thrill and confound
Impressions of His splendor thunder, oft without a sound
As glory of the earth and sky declares the glory of
The Lord. Ah, here a butterfly, ah, there a cooing dove

Coruscant vim of brook-verve curves through wood and meadowland
God’s evidence, without reserve, anoints Want’s blind demand
And fills us with anticipation for impending praise;
Impromptu celebrations as we marvel at His ways
Mantled in morning amethyst, hailed from Welkin Beyond
To mint and silver-dazzled mist of dew-kissed fennel-frond

How holy is the lowly spud, how God’s providence awes
Incomprehensible, the Thought that ordain nature’s laws
And draws delights attentions to beauties and mercies fair
And kindles endless anthems to a God beyond compare
Whose outer fringes flourish in frames filled with ‘let there be’
Whose Inner Whispers nourish gladness and humility

Delight's attention spans the gap twixt worshipper and God
It joins the the trees that clap their hands, the hill-and-field pealed laud
Where spoken tokens of his Word yield what He has decreed
His proclamation, undeterred for He is Lord indeed
Who draws delight's attention to creation's chief employ
To lift our hearts and voices and to shout and sing for joy

***

Yesterday the morning was turning swiftly sweltering...
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear
but my dear neighbor with a potato-digger!
My hallelujah-hymn,
(kindled as the potato-fork
unearthed Yukon gold and Idaho red treasure
 in astonishing measure)
reached new and unexpected heights;
the kind of height that only (unexpected) kindness
(esp. potato-digger kindness)
achieves!!

(my apologies for the WOW!!!
in my delight, I forgot I was recording😂💗)

You will indeed go out with joy and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout unto God with a voice of triumph.

The pastures of the wilderness overflow; the hills are robed with joy.

The pastures are clothed with flocks,
and the valleys are decked with grain.
They shout in triumph; indeed, they sing.

North and south You created;
Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.

The floodwaters have risen, O LORD;
the rivers have raised their voice;
the seas lift up their pounding waves.

Sing for joy, O heavens, for the LORD has done this;
shout aloud, O depths of the earth.
Break forth in song, O mountains,
you forests and all your trees.
For the LORD has redeemed Jacob,
and revealed His glory in Israel.

Care's Counterbalance...Creator's Kindness

Let's pray in these times-like-never-before
where nations are turning from God like never before
that we who believe commit to seeing, hearing, obeying,
relying on and worshipping Him like never before...

Many are the witnesses of faith we may look to for courage, chiefly Jesus!!

Heb.12:1-2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us,
and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2looking unto Jesus, the [a]author and [b]finisher of our faith,
who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and has sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God.

When we delight in the beauty of creation
it is not hard to believe that our Creator God is awesome above all else!!

Isaiah 46:9
Remember the former things of old:
for I am God, and there is none else;
I am God, and there is none like me,

Sometimes life’s woes could blind us to God’s kindnesses unfurled
To counterbalance creature cares in a care-laden world
He tunes heaven and earth with boons too manifold to count
He woos us to drink deeply from June’s leaf and flower fount

Where once again He clothes the land with garb of seed and bud
To manifest His evidence, creation shouts His name
To quench credence to atheism’s cold and calloused claim

He comforts us with colours only His thought can compose
And sweetens Heaven-hunger with reason only He knows
Where each season showcases masterpieces, mercy-lent
Where nothing in this world replaces Goodness, mercy-bent

To well in us, in spite of aches and pangs that sting and press
A worship-bidden, wonder-smitten hymn of happiness
Of reverence and honour to He from Whom blessings pour
To awe and cheer us onward to the joy still set before

...to capture our attention with surprises full of grace
To lavish wounds of learning with fond glimpses of His face
To never let life blind us to He who is kind and good
Whose invisible qualities are clearly understood

© Janet Martin

Rom.1:20
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—
his eternal power and divine nature—
 have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made,
so that people are without excuse.

Oh God!!! May I/we never live
 unawed!

Rad Glory

I began this poem at sunrise...
then the day took over...
Off to a local meat shop first thing,
to take advantage of their annual sausage sale...
stopping for a few photos along the way...

...then grandchildren came for a while to entertain gramma😂💖

What is it about a gate/fence/barrier that instantly draws curiosity
of all ages, even babies?!!

Grand daughter borrows gramma's sunglasses for a better look at the clouds...

It all started when she spotted the one on the first photo,
a billowy, pillow-y one and wished she could jump in it

Now, after the last round of sausage is on to steam,
(Yes! I water-bath-can sausage!)
back to what began almost today-ago 😅

Where the heavens are flung
With profound clarity
A Voice of universal tongue

His awesome evidence
(That only fools deny)
Thunders with untold testaments
From earth and sea and sky

…to confound creature boast
To humble human hearts
As wonder wows Want’s uttermost
With what God’s hand imparts

Hark! Ere the dark of night
Dissolves, the morning rings
With feathered, unfettered delight
From choristers with wings

Both mighty and minute
Astonish and enthrall
Until only fools dare dispute
The One who authored all

Creation stuns the eye
And kindles joyful due
To join the throngs of earth and sky
With songs of worship too

Buds, primed with petaled proof
Pulse with glorious laud
While sorry fool still holds aloof
The rad glory of God

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
